when I was there, there was water. with tent, bond fire, billy, looking at the Milky Way. Most beautiful sight I have ever seen. The bareness, vastness, unforgiving nature command your respect in silent. So beautiful yet so deadly.

You really can’t beat the desolation of the desert outback. There’s something other worldly about the place, just you, the sky and the wind. It’s probably my favourite location in Australia.

Same, Ive traveled solo for many visits to the outback, its something of an other worldly experience.

Great video on Lake Eyre. I used to work up in that region for a few years and the best $5 I spent was on a fly net!. I know the flies all to well when trying to make something to eat.. A vast expanse but spectacular nonetheless.

I can remember a program on that happening shown here in the uk. It was a ray mears program about remote travel. He rented a 110 and he showed all the extra kit he has to by because the rental company didn’t supply them. I can remember it because they tied to dig there stuck car out with plastic plates because it’s all they had. They got stuck by a small shelter there was a rain butt there with over 125 litres of water in it. They had lots of water in the car as well they had enough water for a good while. Her boots melted in the sun so she set off walking in her partners boots. There was some mix up with the visitors log at the hotel so no one knew they were out there. It only took the a police officer 10 minutes to get the car unstuck as he lowered the tyre pressure to a pressure something with experience knows to do. It’s a reminder to everyone to stay safe when your out and about.

Ray Mears rented a 100 series LC for that episode. Yes, a sad story.
@wizardorlegend

Ade Larsen you right I found the episode a few days later on dvd, I think he was in the 110 in some sort of desert talking about a downed aircraft and how the crew licked condensation off metal oil drums. I honestly can’t imagine what down under must be like in summer I get ratty and restless when we get our 3 days of 25 degree sun a year. I really would like to see the horizontal falls, but just don’t think I could cope with the heat.
@adelarsen9776
@adelarsen9776 6 жыл бұрын
Australia is full of European people. No one dies in summer. It's a little warm in Jan and Feb but all year the weather is good. The horizontal falls were made famous by Malcolm Douglas who is a pioneer like Ray Mears, Les Hiddins, Ted Egan and that guy who paints pictures who lives in Broken Hill.

It's too dangerous for me to travel solo towing a trailer. If I get it stuck, jackknifed down a track or come to a dead end and can't reverse out I'm stuffed. I prefer to keep my truck minimal so I can enjoy the bush and not take everything with me. Working on a new video now to show some of my future ideas for my truck though, so stay tuned.
