i dont know..it seems to me, she have done this number for herself, in the first place. also the lyrics reflects her thoughts in that time, after Sergeis death. she could have done another number, just to tell us, what a great Person he had been (and he had been just perfect!) the goes for her first solo after Sergeis death - she did it actually for herself, on the one Hand, to express her Feelings, which is not bad at all, and on the one Hand, to Show everybody that she can be so strong. But what is really for Sergei? Her so much advertised book, My Sergei, has less to do with the title. It actually based on their interviews in the newspapers at that time. Not much info gave us Katya herself. He really loved her, she, on the other Hand, just let him to do so. Her real love was and still remains figure Skating.

Katia truly loved Sergei as he did her. You could see it in their skating and in their eyes. They were a very beautiful couple. So sad that Sergei‘s life was cut so tragically short. He was a beautiful person.

Yes I saw that she herself said celebration of a life was done more for her to be able to be with her friends and skate again. I agree all these tributes to him… are they really FOR him or? She did one in 2015, 2016, 2017? Maybe it’s just me but she should let him Rest In Peace, how much PR can be done on one man’s death? She also did an interview in 2018 for the Olympic Chanel, and of course her book. She herself said it was written for the Americans because they love sentimental things and it was also written by an American, she just told him the story. I’m sure she made millions off that book Anyways it’s obvious Sergei loved her so much, he told friends he was tired of skating, Katia said in her own words that he complained about his back, but she wanted to be on the ice and keep skating long after they had enough money to retire, become coaches and rest. Sergei himself said in an interview after 94 that it was time to rest, but Katia had unfinished ambitions and wanted to make money and she loved the fame so she dragged him back onto the ice and he followed because he loved so much. A loving wife would not make her husband perform lifts and do such a rigorous thing like pairs skating if his back is hurting. Shame on the coaches as well for pushing him. They knew that without him, no medals would come. And Katia said herself if Sergei wasn’t her partner, she probably wouldn’t have had all this success. He was the medal bringer in this pair and they pushed and pushed till there was no more. So sad for his mother Anna who lost her husband 5 years before Sergei died and then she herself died 5 years after he did. Katia moved on, has a husband now, she married illia and had a daughter, her life continued and was good, but the mother could not bear this grief. I saw on a Russian interview that Katia said she felt guilty especially in front of Sergei’s mother. She knew that she pushed him too much

@@toxic-low-key-ghost7934 Even though it was a celebration of Sergei's life, it was about bringing people together to show their appreciation and respect for Sergei, but even more about being there for Katia and everyone who loved him. It was also a fundraiser for Daira's education and to make sure they had some security in the incredible difficult time that lied ahed. Funerals, memorials etc. are really more for the people who are left behind. It also makes me sad that people make something negative out of Katia writing the book in Sergei's memory. It was to give people some insight into their life together told from her perspective, and to let people know just how special of a person he was. Sure she made money off of it, but why is that a bad thing? It helped secure their future. We don't know what went through Sergei's head, but Katia said that he wanted to skate again in the 1998 Olympics to make up for the little mistake he made in the long program in the 1994 Olympics (which makes sense since he was a perfectionist). He was working out up to three times a day in an attempt to strengthen his back and I'm sure he would have put his foot down if he was in so much pain that it was unbearable to continue skating. Sure Katia might have been pushing a bit, and Sergei would undoubtedly do anything to make her happy, but I don't think he would push himself way beyond his limits. He was smart and level-headed. He really grew to love skating (you could tell from watching him perform), and wanted to support his family and give Daria a good future, it wasn't all to just to make Katia happy. He was quite stoic and didn't like to show weakness. Athletes tend to push through pain and no one knew just how serious his health problems were. It's not right to blame Katia for what happened. It was inevitable, but him being an athlete definitely made it happen sooner. Katia had to stay strong for her daughter, but it's obvious how much it has affected her. Her relationship with Sergei has shaped her life experience and became an integral part of who she is. They really loved each other. He was an incredible human being and it's so heartbreaking that his life was cut so short.
