Katibim (Uskudara Gideriken), Turkish traditional song, arranged for guitar by Armin Kulla
...............................................................................................................................................
"Kâtibim" ("my clerk"), or "Üsküdar'a Gider İken" ("while going to Üsküdar") is a Turkish folk song about someone's clerk (kâtip) as they travel to Üsküdar. The tune is a famous Istanbul türkü,[1] which is spread beyond Turkey in many countries, especially in the Balkans.
Lyrics (English Translation) :
On the way to Üsküdar, rain started to pour down.
My clerk's frock coat is long, its skirt with mud.
It seems the clerk just woke up, his eyes are languid.
The clerk belongs to me, I belong to the clerk, what is it to others?
How handsome my clerk looks with starched shirts!
On the way to Üsküdar, I found a handkerchief.
I filled the handkerchief with Turkish delight.
As I was looking for my clerk, I found him next to me.
The clerk belongs to me, I belong to the clerk, what is it to others?
How handsome my clerk looks with starched shirts!
Üsküdar'a gider iken aldı da bir yağmur.
Kâtibimin setresi uzun, eteği çamur.
Kâtip uykudan uyanmış, gözleri mahmur.
Kâtip benim, ben kâtibin, el ne karışır?
Kâtibime kolalı da gömlek ne güzel yaraşır!
Üsküdar'a gider iken bir mendil buldum.
Mendilimin içine (de) lokum doldurdum.
Kâtibimi arar iken yanımda buldum.
Kâtip benim, ben kâtibin, el ne karışır?
Kâtibime kolalı da gömlek ne güzel yaraşır!
...............................................................................................................................................
I would like to share my passion for classical guitar and inspire you with my music.
Hopefully I can also add value to the community through my channel on KZbin.

I hope people realize how difficult it is to play a piece like this WITHOUT looking at the neck of the guitar the majority of the time. It takes years and years of practice to be able to do that. Most guitarists never reach that level in a lifetime. Thank you Thu Le for all of your amazing performances and for brightening up the world with your music and your beauty. I LOVE that mysterious smile you give while your fingers are blazing away on the guitar. Could Thu Le be the greatest guitarist in the modern world? I think so.

I'm pretty forgiving if others do... I've been playing.. non professionally.. non classical music.. for more than 50 years.. I do it a few hours a week.. at best... I do calculus in my head... because I do it all day every day... no worries mate... she's an excellent musician... and teacher... and she gives us... those trying to learn how.. something to aspire to... meanwhile.. I peek maybe 🤔.. if the teacher was watching I'd straighten up and fly right.. but hey te amo Thu Le... best guitar teacher in the World... and.. except for my lovely wife... possibly the most beautiful woman in the World 🌎🌍 hòa bình = peace ✌️

I once had a conversation with a group of guitar players and they were trying to list the top guitarists they have ever heard play. I finally said I could not list any guitarist for fear someone might see the list as a progression of talent from first down. I could list 10 or more that I thought belonged as number 1 but that was before I discovered Thu Le and now I proudly add Thu Le to that group of the finest in the world. Thank you for your life-time of hard work so the world can enjoy your music and talent
