No boundaries, no bridle, no saddle, no shoes! Just Jebe and I riding around, and then doing a little horseback archery. I love my horse! I had to change the music due to copyright issues.

A lovely video -- you have achieved the very difficult task of becoming one with your horse. You must have a very calm and peaceful soul to keep from transmitting any tension or force to your horse. What a willing partnership you have made. Beautiful.

I also strongly believe in ground work :))) Actually I mostly do that, and only ride once a week. At some point I didn't even want to ride anymore cause I wanted to be close to the horse's nature (not use the snaffle bit anymore), and I totally found it in the ground work. It really is mostly thanks to your video that I see riding differently, I see it can be done in total respect of the horse. Thanks alot and bravo for being so humble, first quality to get there and you totally have it!

Just looked back at this. I have come a long way in that year and done a lot of studying horse behaviour (and how human behaviour affects the horse) and it has really paid off. Although I'm still not to the point of bareback bridleless riding due to health issues setting me back I have at least made the connection that a horse is a reflection of the rider and my confidence has grown hugely, as has my relationship with any horse

Thanks for sharing your experience. I can imagine the work behind this beautiful brideless riding, and I'm sure when you say "a year" you must have been riding an hour every single day (?) I only ride once a week which isn't enough. I'm thinking of pushing to twice/three times a week (hoping to get the time out of a hectic agenda - where there's a will there's a way :) Can't wait to see the post end of week! Bravo again! Shouldn't be just a hobby given all the work and passion you put in it!

Hi Katie - i love this so much - this video brings back so many memories for me and my pony betsy - i rode the same way for years - i never had a saddle and would still prefer to ride bareback and no bridle or reins - its like the scene from avatar when he gets on the back of half horse thing and has to connect with him - thats what it feels like doesnt it? You have to have a connection and gentleness! Great video!! xx Pam

Absolutely gorgeous riding, and great music selection too! I love Loreena Mckennit (not sure if I spelled her name right, though). I like archery, although I haven't done it since I was a kid. I have been talking about trying it again, now your video has inspired me to go for it! I don't know if I can do it from horseback, as I'm a para (disabled) rider and have limits on what I can do riding. You are amazing, and very peaceful to watch in this video. Such a bond with your horse too! GREAT vid!

Katie, this is beautiful! I'm interested in how you transferred Jebe over to bridleless riding. With a lot of bridleless riding, I can see the remnants of the "stick in eye" cues for turning, but Jebe seems to be really attending to your natural shifts in weight and focus.
@desertcitysun12128 жыл бұрын
Beautiful video & horse! I totally agree...bitless and barefoot are the way to go. I use the Dr. Cooks bridle (on any horse)...love it. I've never used bits and never will. I do boot my horse because I live in a very rocky area. I can ride her completely "free" (no bridle, saddle, etc..) but she wants to go in her own direction. lol! We're working on that...at her own pace. Enjoy your horse too! :-)
