I don’t know. Kavanaugh was accused of assault 36 years ago. That can be difficult to prove. But it is evidence in plain sight that he has an aggressive temper and don’t bother to verbally attack his opponents in a very disrespectful way. If I had someone to a job interview who behaved like this, I would never ever approve a contract, not even for a trial period. He has unacceptable behavior.

@TravelinBand7474 жыл бұрын
The most striking thing about those interviews was that Couric essentially nailed Palin with straightforward questions. There were no "gotcha" questions, there was no confrontational stuff, Couric was professional and focused throughout her interviews and Palin cooked her own goose by revealing how unprepared and laughably unqualified that she was for such an office. Funny thing is, after this was all over, Palin did what whined and tried to accuse Couric of being biased and unfair. The questions asked were ones that any seasoned professional running for VP should have been able to answer in their sleep. Palin was and is an embarrassment.

Russell Newton They are! They are required to make sure trials proceed legally, Supreme Court Justices must look at the facts of the case and rule according to the law. They can’t arbitrarily rule one way or another, it must be based on the law, unless the law is unconstitutional.
@wordforger6 жыл бұрын
Most are. However, there are just as many that are ELECTED, which doesn't exactly lend itself to impartiality, and those that are chosen by elected officials because they will advance a particular political agenda. Growing political polarization in our government has made some of these choices rather questionable. However, the Supreme Court has maintained a relatively stable balance for some time now of four liberals, four conservatives, and one moderate swing vote to decide issues. It's imperfect, but it's worked to make no side completely happy but no side completely angry because it does, in the end, turn out as a neutral court. The nomination of Kavanaugh upsets this balance and may lead to a conservative-led court for the first time in decades. That's why Republicans are fighting so hard for him. They see this as their chance to finally snag the Supreme Court for THEIR side before the Democrats regain control of the House. Meanwhile, the Democrats would absolutely see this as a disaster so will try everything to try and keep the Republicans from voting in a very conservative justice before they can wrest away the majority. Because if the Dems manage to win, they will either force Trump to pick a more moderate Justice, or try and pull a Mitch McConnell and come up with an excuse to keep that 9th seat empty until 2021.
@russellnewton66606 жыл бұрын

Russell Newton They’re human, so even if they weren’t allowed to publicly express which (if any) political party they belong to, they would still believe the way they do. We don’t just rely on trust for them to rule correctly, they are bound by law to rule lawfully. That being said, are there crooked judges? You bet!

As a man, I never knew how traumatizing sexual assault had on women psychology! My wife, who was pregnant at the time, was on an elevator and the a-hole, excuse the language, tried to take a picture up her dress. The only way she knew what happened was because she felt something touch her leg. Her experience was nowhere near as traumatizing as Dr Ford Blasey, but she is freaked out when on an elevator with a strange man alone, when someone runs up behind her unexpectedly, or walking in a parking deck alone. So men that say this shouldn’t have an effect on women should ask someone who has had something happen to them. I am now trying to make sure that I have sympathy for situations like this.

When I watched Kavanaugh become angry, flippant and rude toward those senators he disliked and have those partisan outbursts, including alleging a conspiracy by Democrats, his behavior makes me doubt his emotional stability under stress and his ability to be impartial and to focus to the law and constitutional scholarship when making decisions. Does he throw a tantrum, in other situations, when he does not get his way? I expect emotional outbursts and sarcasm from alt-right radio talk show hosts, but I do not expect this kind of adolescent behavior from someone who is supposed to consider facts and testimony on their merits and without pre-judgement. Surely the Republicans can find someone who is more emotionally stable and polite under stress to be their nominee for a Supreme Court seat.
