Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States - more than all cancers combined. In fact, 1 out of 3 women will die from cardiovascular disease, which includes heart disease and strokes.
Katie Hopkins was nearly one of those women. On August 1st, 2023, at just 36 years old, Katie suffered a massive heart attack that almost took her life. She didn't recognize her symptoms as signs of a heart attack, but she went to the hospital anyway that day - a decision that saved her life. While at the hospital, she went into cardiac arrest for 20 minutes and was resuscitated by the medical team.
Now a proud heart attack survivor and heart health advocate, Katie has joined Go Red for Women. Go Red for Women is an initiative founded by the American Heart Association to help raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women and educate other women on the signs of a heart attack or stroke.
Historically, heart and stroke research focused primarily on men. Go Red for Women was founded to change that. The knowledge and research they provide literally saves lives (like Katie's!) every day, helping women understand their risk, know the signs of a heart attack or stroke, and lead healthy lifestyles.
Katie has been chosen as a 2025 Woman of Impact for Go Red for Women. From February 7th - April 10th, she will be raising money to help support Go Red for Women's lifesaving work. She has a fundraising goal of $21,000 to represent the 21 years Go Red For Women has existed - and she needs your help!
