I'd love to see the cost/benefit analysis of the services provided versus how much it costs for the government to provide it. Having worked for government I can promise the pay is NOT lavish, and ensuring the safety and quality of road and bridge construction (what I was involved with) certainly IS critical, when you, your wife, your kids, your parents, et al, actually need them to be sound and long lasting.
