I adore Stanley Tucci's sense of ironic humor. I laughed during so much of this interview which only enhanced my opinion of Stanley Tucci. Thank you to Katie Couric for a great interview. Amazing how I always learn something new during these interviews.

I lived in Italy for a year at 16- Torino. LOVED everything about the lifestyle, history and culture. I learned how to make pasta , focaccia , sauces....and still use the same faded recipes. Stanley Tucci - you are amazing and I wish I had CNN just to watch you.

The best way to know a country it’s by the food. Whenever I travel, I always take a food tour and then visit local food markets. Way to go Stanley!! Awesome show!

It is NOT the opening of the arts, rather it is the marketplace opening in response to sociopolitical pressures. In some ways society and the market are finally catching up to the timeless messages communicated through the arts, since time immemorial!

I too came from an Italian family where food was everything. However, my Mom did everything, including the cleanup....because Italian men did not do kitchen work, other than open fresh clams on occasion. That’s when I learned to clean up and help out, which I do to this day with my wife. It also gives me a regular opportunity to check out the performance / wear & tear of our beloved kitchen tools. I am also the sauce man and CKTC (chief kitchen tool consultant) in our house. I’d love working part time in a place like Sur La Table someday. But other than sauce and tools, my wife does all the amazing cooking and I happily take care of cleanup. It’s a great team approach for two foodies.

Stanley did a fantastic job of introducing North Americans to Italy. He showed us wonderful out of the way spots and just wonderful people growing, producing and cooking just fantastic food. My goodness have put on 10 lbs. since watching his tour of Italy. He has just a lovely natural way with people. Can hardly wait for his book.

I agree Stanley...a loss of irony! I grew up in an hispanic household in new york where spanglish was spoken regularly plus authentic, puertorican speaking parents, mostly mother and grandmother. Jokes and laughing was constant when the "irony" of not understanding each other in a very expressive family and, like italians we demanded to be listened to in english and spanish. A lot of fun most of the time. Irony helped me all through my youth (I'm 71 now and living in my parents home country...PR). Talk about irony. Long story but thank you catie and stanley. Love New Yorkers miss New York and that sense of humor.

I love everything Stanley Tucci does and I'm so happy to hear that he'll cover six more regions of Italy on CNN. I wish, he did something like that in other countries as well. I can't wait to watch "Supernova". I loved the notion being vulnerable enough to challenge your biases and prejudices that were formed during the years . We all are human beings and make mistakes but we also have to be willing to recognize them and learn new things. Thank you for this interview, both Katie and Stanley

Love Stanley! Such an amazing actor and exceptional human being! Would love to meet at one of those gorgeous regions of Italy to delight on one of those sumptuous food! Every time he says “Oh my God” while tasting something makes me want to take a flight to Italy! Love the series!!!

Katie I love your interviews. Thank you. Stanley is a great person. He is a great person. I would like to talk to you about your eating style. I have gone through an eating style major change resulting in a very positive change. I eliminated grains and sugar some 6 years ago. After 3 days of experimenting with the change, my wife and I felt so much better. There is no turning back.

Although he is totally different, his show reminds me of Anthony Bourdain’s shows. It is satisfies my love of travel and food. Glad there is going to be another season, and I hope he continues in other countries.

Giving up carbs, Katie? Make that giving up PROCESSED carbs....WHOLE carbs are FABULOUS FOR YOUR HEALTH! Glad to hear you're dumping dairy...it's liquid meat and does all the damage mead does. BTW, food aside, LOVE YOU & YOUR SHOW!!! And this Tucci segment doesn't disappoint!

Awe Stanley just loved your series! when will you do the Liguria Region of Italy? that's where I really grew up and learned to cook. My husband was from Liguria and I lived in Genova for about 8 years before moving back to the US. I love Italy and am so enjoying your series. I watch it over and over. When will your 2nd series start up?????? Love you, Stanley. . . .

"earnestness and Irony" I love that you said this. I believe that will happen and we may even be closer than we think. I call it nuance, I guess, which I think has been missing sometimes. And humor we have to be able to laugh at some things that are uncomfortable.

One of the "problems" with Italy is that there is just so much to see. I've worked and lived here for 50 years and know that in spite of that I have really only scratched the surface. I've just seen his latest on Sicily and I was selfishly disappointed that he didn't include my favourite town thereTaormina but with Italy there truly is "l'imbarazzo della scelta" (the embarassment of the choice). Nobody, even in a long and fully dedicated lifetime, would ever be able to cover all the riches of this totally unique treasure house of a country.

As an expat in France now Italy for 30 years, I understand the complexities of these cultures. Using food as a gateway is something important. But the Italio-American version is not edible, with the Northern Californian exception. Also true of French cooking.

When will people wake up. These people do not give a crap about you. They do not love you back. Stop saying you love them like they are family. When you keep repeating the I love so and so, you tell yourself that you really do. These people are actors. They tell you how to think, feel, and speak. Stop saying you love them. If you knew them personally you would not love them. And I promise you, they laugh at you and how much you have enriched them
