All items at HL come off the truck premarked. If there is a price change it is reflected in the newer inventory. It’s not a scam, it’s the process. HL paid less for the lower marked item and believes their customers should also pay the lower price. It’s a good thing!

At the risk of getting blasted, Hobby Lobby puts out new decor each year and when their is a change in price, they do not go back and update the price on the object that has been sitting on the shelf for the last year. When the year rolls over, if you find an object and it has two prices, the lower priced one is the year old one, and they are giving you the opportunity to get it for last year's price.

Hey Katie. Tfs yet another walk through pointing out the continued price scamming issue at Hobby Lobby. It has stuck with me since the last video. Idc if retailers like Hobby Lobby claim that the price difference is due to last year vs current merch. As a customer its disloyal and gives me pause to spend my hard earned $. What you are finding are newer items mixed with older stock. It's not a deliberate attempt by Hobby Lobby to deceive anyone, it's a result of inflation. Hopefully, that will end soon!

The object has sitting on the self at a price year ago or 6 months ago. The new one came in at a higher price because they paid a higher price. Instead changing the price tag to the higher price, I am guessing they chose to leave it and not make a higher profit on it. Most stores raise or change to price tag to the higher price. Every shipment comes in a different price. Heck I make a point to walk around the store to find another to look for the lower price. When the buyer by items in bulk next time they order they may not get the same price for that item.

I wouldn't call it a scam now. That implies that they're being dishonest, which they're not. The items are literally right next to each other. They are 1 of the best decor places around with a HUGE inventory. So I know it's probably hard for the employees to keep track of everything that comes in already priced on the truck. They have incredible sales on everything all year long, so I don't think they're making bank off these price differences. Hopefully they do update things in the future, but I'm willing to give them some grace for this.

It’s very simple, I have owned my own store and when they reorder or have overstock of course the older stock might be cheaper than the newer stock the prices would reflect that difference they aren’t scamming anyone, people that don’t own a business should not be trying to start a video like this you have.

1 of the basket comps you showed were slightly different. The higher priced 1 had some structural pieces on the interior of the basket which made it much sturdier than the 1 without which appeared more flimsy. & I've been noticing floral price differences for the last couple of years. When I get to checkout if I point this out they've given me all the same florals at the lower price instead of the mixed price. And I've noticed just in the last week with the change in the White House, everything I buy has skyrocketed in price, not just at H. L.😠

I actually pointed this out to management before at hobby lobby and they said it’s because of older inventory n inflation so I needed 2 of the one item n there was 2 but 2 different prices n they sold me both for the lower price, so if anyone is concerned about the price differences then take it to customer service register n request to speak with mgr about the price discrepancy n see what they say, not a scam I would say, just maybe that’s how do things, oh yeah Katie, so glad u pointed it out that it’s still an issue! I personally like the savings passed onto me n not everyone wants big technology in their companies n it’s expensive n probably more confusing, not everyone is tech savvy n too much computer issues can be costly n confusing for everyone! What if system crashed it’s a big loss across the board if it affects all of their stores! I have seen this happen to a store n a bank when the system is down because of computers n they are helpless until it gets resolved, not always good!

Absolutely! My husband and I have been shaking our heads at the pricing roulette at this store for years. Same items, different prices-it’s like they’re running a secret game show we’re not in on. And don’t get me started on the checkout process-it’s a trip back in time. Watching them manually key in every item feels like an archaeological dig, except instead of uncovering fossils, they're uncovering errors on my receipt. By the time I leave, I’m half-expecting a parchment scroll instead of a printed bill. And what’s with the sudden influx of dollar-store rejects? Hello Katie, so I just wanted to tell you about something I learned a long time ago. Now I'm a hairdresser and across the street from the salon, I had at the time, was a clothing store. It was a higher priced clothing store. But once a year we would have what they called sidewalk days, and all the downtown stores participated in it. So, on the first day of the event, I went over and check to see if there was anything I liked and could afford. Let's say the price was $50.00 on day one. The next day I went to see if it was still there and what it would have come down any. Well, it looked like it had because there was a new sticker on it, and it said $69.99. and the $50.00 was still on it. The third day it said $85.00. So, it looked like it started at $85.00, and the finial mark down was $50.00. So, retail is a huge market, and they find ways to get us going and coming. Also, I think someone in the comments said what I was thinking. Some of the tags said table decor and then the other one said home decor. I guess if they are putting out something that has different prices they should wait until the item is gone so they are all the same. Katie your babies are so cute I like seeing them. I understand while people don't show the kids, but they are so fun to see. Thanks for the little looks.

Hi Katie, yes I completely agree the same item should be priced the same. In my opinion, I think much of the same stock that came in during covid is higher prices, with reordering the same stock to replenish is coming in at cheaper prices. One thing I wanted to mention when your shopping, comparing prices, check the date and sku number. The same item can have a different sku so that will tell you it came in at a different time/order. I do think the prices are coming down a bit. I was at HL, just yesterday and bought some florals and I had 3 stems of the same item and one was at a higher price. She gave me the same cheaper price. In fact she checked all my florals to make sure they were priced the same. I can't speak for all HL's but at least my store was honoring the cheaper prices. 😊

Costs for retailers have gone up, inflation, tariffs, higher duties to pay. Other retailers take the time to mark up the old inventory to match the new inventory, even though they paid less for the new item. That way the prices match, and you end up paying more for something that they paid less for.
