I love that when the train is departing, they just play a boxing bell lol

I first rode on this in the 1960's when it was open to the air. A more scarier experience than the totally enclosed train. Saying that the views are stunning and well worth the ride.🐨🦘

omg SAME, late 70s for me, I was a child then, I thought I was going to not hold onto the bar for so long and let go falling over the people in front of me. They really should have more safety features on this with more things to hold onto like a rollercoaster does. Cant believe no one has had an accident on it yet. But man I was screaming like hell. I will never forget it. When kids scream on this its real screams not fake ones you see at amusement parks.

Wow! It had no roof or walls or floor for that matter when I rode it. It was just a metal cage and certainly no music. It's lost the danger factor that it had.

The train is attached to a cable which runs up the track to a motor room at the top of the escapement. The cable is attached to a counterweight which runs down into the valley, the counterweight is a tank of water so it weighs the same as the train without the passengers. The motor is therefore only pulling the weight of the people. The train runs on a wide railway track.

I admit you don't get to see the same view like you use to get on the old train back so many years ago now, their are like so many blind spots that are blocking it now. I remember when the water use to drip on the top of you in the cage any time you use to go down the cave. the better view of the three sisters and the wind that would blow on you.

It isn't the worlds steepest funicular because it uses a winch system, and hasn't got a counterbalancing carriage like the new Stossbahn, which is a true funicular and the steepest in the world with 47 degrees incline. This here is just a large Incline Elevator or Lift
@fugawiaus3 жыл бұрын
Sorry but the Swiss one is only 48deg while the Aussie one is 52deg. We still hold the record of the steepest passenger railway in the world. Nothing to do with funicular.
