A note on screams, particularly when taking place in an open area with brush and small forested areas surrounding the property. Foxes scream, and particularly in the way that Zak described: a short scream that trailed off slightly at the end. I was hiking in the snowy woods once and heard the sound, and it scared the life out of me. But I knew it was a fox, because I was trailing paw prints (actually dog prints that had also trailed the fox). There's nothing like the scream of a fox, because it's so amazingly humanlike... Perhaps in the future, you can have an audio person like Kat is for your video, so that the audio is a lot more audible in recordings. Everything so far with "Travel the Dead" is faint, even after the edits in post to boost those sounds. I imagine what we're hearing is nothing like what you hear in person. Love watching your work! And seconded with many others that this is relatively serious investigation without lots of yelling and running nonsense. We all want to experience what you're experiencing, and letting the spaces speak for themselves is ideal.

Great episode, love that you and your group try to keep it plain and not make it into a drama event. I have wondered about some of the questions that you ask when trying to get EVPs, seems that the same questions are asked all the time, why not ask non standard questions? Would seem that everyone asks the same thing, maybe the spirits would like other messages shared or answered. Just the thoughts of someone that is not able to do this himself.

Thank you! It's a great question, in general a lot gets cut out, but I agree with you that a lot of times we start with the basic questions. Almost like going to a party and small talk. You're just trying to see what will work and go from there. It's all experimenting at this point and I'm not 100% convinced that call/response is the answer to documenting these experiences. Sometimes it works, but for the most part I think it's right place at the right time type of thing

I'm not a big fan of a lot of equipment. None of it can prove a ghost (at this point anyway! ;) ). What I like about Zak is he's trying to back up personal experiences with environmental shifts through equipment. if these experiences are tied to the environment we might be able to recognize patterns that way.

I love your show. I have 1 question though. Why doesn't any investigator ever ask the ghosts/spirits if they know what year it is now? That's one way to find out if it's a residual haunting or a present haunting.

Yes again. Ghost hunting can be unpleasant but never scary. One physical issue I have is vertigo in the dark which is natural. I always have to walk with a cain or touch a handrail or wall. A fall can be dangerous. Most that we've caught & takes HOURS are evps.

It's kind of hard to answer because it's not a phenomenon that's proven. I think a lot of our fear comes from the unknown, understandable. BUT the important thing to remember with the supernatural is that our perceptions color our experiences. I've seen activity that could be perceived as negative and have worked with families that are completely scared, but we have to take into account so many factors during those times. I'm sorry it's not a terribly concrete answer, but I don't think we'll have one until we have clearer answers about what unexplained phenomena is/isn't.
