I guess a lot of people didn't get the point that being a "marine" was something that had always been inside of her. I mean, look how subtle the video establishes that she'a always been a good shooter at the 1:56 mark. Of course she decided to join in the military after the break up with this guy, but she's doing this for herself, it's a PART OF HERS. He triggered her need for self-empowerment but the accomplishment is all her own.

I heard this song while I was out running errands and almost broke down crying. I remember listening to this song and praying that one day I would escape my bad situation. I thought that I would never get out of it and it lasted so long that I gave up hope and became use to it. I told myself that this was my life and i began to believe the hurtful words that were hurld at me, I believed that I would never be successful or that anyone would want to be around me. I look back now and say "I can't believe that I made it through all of that!" I feel every lyric when Katy Perry says "Now look at me I'm sparkling a firework a dancing flame you won't ever put me out again I'm glowing" ✨✨

@@vella406 boot camp was great. Did you happen to hear about what happened to Vanessa Guillen? She was in the Army but throughout all 4 branches, sexual assault & sexual harassment aren't always taken seriously by higher ups. I had a guy that found me on all social media, during training after boot camp he would be stalking me during libo & to this day, I still find him making fake accounts even though he's married. It's not always bad, the military but the worst part is hearing those close to you say "what did you expect?" "You signed up for it" "you shouldn't've joined" and no I'm not complaining and no not all of them are horrible but I signed up for knowing I might die or I might see thing I'm not supposed to, I didn't go to war but we do still get trauma from other things. PTS doesn't just come from war, it can also come from Sexual trauma or having known someone close that ended their life or maybe having seen it or seen them harm themselves etc. Trauma doesn't even always happen in the military, it also comes from domestic abuse, child abuse, growing up in neighborhoods where people are getting killed or robbed. I apologize, I'd rather speak the truth than lie and have more kids that don't know what they're doing join. ⚠️TW⚠️ I'll start from the worst company. I had gotten injured but didn't want to get seen bc we were told in boot camp that going to the docs would get you dropped and even though I had already earned my title, I was worried I'd get sent home, 1 company later I have a sergeant that said I should check it out bc I'm too young to be broken so I did and the lady made me feel crazy bc I could feel the pain and the x rays were there but she would say I was bitching even though one time I overheard she went to a hike w corpsmen and couldn't hand 3 mi with 30 lbs when we would have almost 90lb and do miles for days (not complaining just saying straight up facts) well, a company later I had gone to this shitty company where I tried to end my life 3 times, I couldn't go through with it which now I am thankful for not having done it but I also started hating myself and judging myself for everything as well as saying curse words in the Mirror. 3 years and I'm still working on myself, finally can look in the mirror without seeing an enemy nor do I cuss at myself anymore. It's difficult picking ourselves up, resetting boundaries, trying to control all the anger you have. I used to be USA 24/7 but I saw how they didn't give a damn about Us, told us that once we're injured we are no longer useful to them, they don't care about our suicidal thoughts nor self harming until we're dead. Judging us until we're dead. I know veterans that did go to war that are still having to fight after years even decades for their benefits! I had to fight for mine bc I didn't want my benefits until a few veterans I knew told me that it's mine and I should get myself checked out since I'm back home so thanks to them and my mom for pushing me and I don't have all my benefits but I don't have 10% so that's something. Also, the guy that stalked me, I didn't do anything about bc our SDI from my 2nd company told us that we're bitches if we said something since men already see us that way so we had to keep all of it to ourselves. She can rot in hell tho bc there are so much women out there in the military that have gotten dishonorable discharge for trying to speak up, been judged for speaking up, cases like Lavena Johnson (she was deployed) that still haven't received justice or like Gregory morales who was also found in fort hood when they were looking for Vanessa Guillen.

this is the perfect music video and song for me right now in a kind of ironic way. i just broke up with my best friend who is in military school. over time he's been changing and honestly becoming a narcissist and yesterday we had a stupid argument again (we would usually argue as a joke) and he threw a tantrum for some reason and started degrading me and calling me stupid and telling me i waste his time and just saying really horrible things. i talked to my friend and my mom and realized he was abusive and manipulative the whole time and i was never overreacting before like i thought. it hurt but it also felt amazing realizing i was never wrong and every sign i saw really was real, that i wasn't stupid like he tried to make me think. i wasted so much emotion on him and now that i don't have to anymore it feels so amazing. i cared about him so much but ive realized he never cared about me so now im going to start caring about myself like i should have before. ive cried enough already, now im smiling at songs like this.
