The Second Battle of Kiev was a part of a much wider Soviet Union offensive in Ukraine during World War Two known as the Battle of the Dnieper river involving three strategic operations by the Soviet Red Army and one operational counterattack by the Wehrmacht, which took place between 3 November and 22 December 1943
The song Katyusha Russian: Катюша Katherine, also transliterated as Katjuša, Katioucha, or Katiusza, is a Soviet folk based song and military march. It was composed by Matvey Blanter in 1938. The author of the lyrics to the song was the Soviet poet Mikhail Isakovsky. It gained fame in the USSR during World War II as a patriotic song, inspiring the population to serve and defend their motherland in the war effort.

Stalin put shoulder straps into Red Army only in 1943. Before it, soldiers used buttonholdes.

@@WarWojaks Originally, Bolsheviks refused an idea of shoulder straps, creating design of unified Red Army uniform, because of associations with the Russian Emperor's Army. Red Army should look like something new, the people's army. Stalin returned it during the war because shoulder straps are simply useful and cose, many years passed after the revolution.
