Love it so much, I bought 3 of them. 2 of them are the brown label, the 2 are as black as coffee, even with a small dram u can't see through the liquid. The other bottle is a bit lighter, but is one of the coolest kavalan bottles from the "inscription" series

@@topshelfwhisky I'd stockpile more right now tbh. I have family that live in China and the propaganda against Taiwan is getting pretty intense. I don't think we'll be seeing kavalan for much longer

Hope you boys are keeping well. Just revisiting your old Kavalan reviews, they are fun watching. The sweetness you describe here seems somewhat similar to Vinho Barrique. This or Vinho Barrique?

Depends on the VB. I had a 2016 or 18 that was well done but they have slipped lately... The port will always be sweeter to me. If that's your preference, try it.

HolyShite, the only bottle of Kavalan I have but from 14 Dec 2017 and still 59.4%. Agree with the HUGE grape and honey. And the timing/mood has to be right. CHEERS!

I love this whisky as well. I have a chance to buy Kavalan "Solist" Manzanilla or Kavalan "Solist" Amontillado but can only buy one. Which one should I buy?............Cheers!

Amontillado by a slight margin. Both are excellent, we have reviews of both and the PX & Moscatel

Difficult to get my head around the cloying sweetness in this bottle. It does seem to lack contrast. NyQuil is an excellent descriptor. Thanks for the review. Personally, I wish I'd bought a different soloist.

Nothing, other than those were priced higher in my experience. Kavalan likes to play with their packaging a lot (no pun intended).

@@topshelfdustin3060 Heads up, I ordered two more bottles of the maroon port casks (2018 bottling @ 56.3%) from internet wines for a buck thirty and they just arrived in the mail (with two bottles of The Irishman 17 2004 as well). Wanted to make sure they were legit before letting you know. The port casks seem to be a barrel pick of sorts as they do not have the Solist title?
