As a result of the dry climatic conditions Udawalwe National Park has a unique type of vegetation.
The easiest way to get to Udawalawa from Colombo is to come through Awissawella, Ratnapura, Palmadulla and along the Embilipitiya road. You need to take a left turn from Udawalawe junction at Thimbolketiya and proceed along the Thanamalwila road. The drive from Colombo could take approximately 4 hours.
