I wish you would do a K-800 vs a K-500. In your past videos you rave over the K-800 and I would like to see what advantages is has over the slightly smaller K-500 that costs less.

A video comparing the K800 to a 5'3" or 5'4" baby grand is something I've been looking for! I have a 40 year old Yamaha GHB-1 5'3" that was the piano I learned on as a kid and my parents gave to me when I bought my first house. Now it's the piano my daughter is learning on but as she improves, I am considering that maybe in a few years it may be time to upgrade. The used market is always a consideration and while a new Kawai GX1 or Estonia L168 would be amazing, those are close to if not more than double the cost of a K800. Thanks for the great videos!

​@@MERCEDES-BENZS600GUARD_V12 Not always - in 1979, I bought the largest YAMAHA Upright UX - it was suggested by the dealer that I go for the small YAMAHA grand. There was no comparison - I had to go up 3 or 4 grand models to get one as good as the UX Upright. Buying my next piano 14 years ago, I observed the same - but I did buy a 7'4" grand which I've loved.

@@alanclarkeau I was mostly referring to the action. In terms of sound yeah a larger upright compared to a small baby grand probablyis beter, although I don't know why I liked the sound of that 1960s Steinway S I tried a few days ago🎹🎶

Sticking with the same brand - the small YAMAHA grand had a very different action from the larger ones - in that brand, the "GB" series, which were the cheaper mass market ones were nothing like the "C" series pianos. My teacher ended up buying a new "GB" piano, 2nd smallest, soon after I bought the UX. (I also, a few years later, had a back neighbour with the same small grand, and my observations were similar). I had a direct comparison, I'd practise all week on the UX for my diploma, then to his GB for lessons and I was always glad to get home again to my piano which had a faster, more responsive action. Yes, I did occasionally get to a Steinway grand at the University - I think it was an B (or A?) - and it trumped both YAMAHAs - but it had a retail price about 8-10 times more expensive.

K800 sounds louder and notes are sharper, k400 sounds muffled

That may be the effect of fore and back duplex scaling system, which promotes the K800 to a grand category, is it?
