Rheumatic fever is not due to exotoxins ...its due to type 2 hypersensitivity....onset 2 weeks after infection

Wait, really? I go through the same thing, too. Just had strep throat on May 19, and I have the rash now. This has been happening since 2010, and I'm currently 18 years old.

Terrifying. My daughter turned 28 years old today, but when she was 3yrs 5mos old, back in Nov 1998. Kawasaki wasn’t well known or recognized, so it took far too much time to get a proper diagnosis. She was at Mass General Hospital in Boston, and by day 6, they had decided she most likely had Leukemia and were going to treat her as such. Her steadily dropping platelet level was their driving force with that diagnosis. By then, she was no longer waking up for long enough periods of time to eat and was being fed intravenously, as well as using a catheter and a bag. She didn’t even flinch during any of the multiple spinal taps she had. The staff was stumped. Finally, a guest resident visiting from the UK just HAPPENED to pass by is while en route for another MRI, and that doctor immediately noticed my daughters hands sticking out from the blanket. Her skin was peeling badly and her fingers were also swollen and cracked. That doctor, God Bless her, came to me to ask me a series of questions and within an hr, they began treating my daughter for Kawasaki disease. Less than a week later, she was home with us. Back then, even less was known and from what I was told, Kawasaki primarily affects children of Northern European descent. The most significant symptom is the rapidly declining platelet count. Every other symptom can be explained away as any one of the millions of childhood illnesses
