As I am going to be removing the cylinder head etc on the XJ600 I would like to check the measurements not only of the cyclinder but the rings, little ends, big ends etc while I'm in there, do you plan on doing a video on these things, at 75,000 miles I'm sure they will need checking......

Could you give some indications if the bike has done 70,000 miles etc and the options we have ......perhaps new rings, a rebore, larger size pistons...etc......100 microns is a fairly small amount but what effect will this have on the engine...Thanks Matt

+ROY Dean any deviation from the initial bore size increases gas blow, this reduces power, increases oil contamination, etc etc bla bla bla. If an engine is running and its running well, amd you don't notice any issues then it doesn't matter. If your loosing power and its a massive bitch to start and this is due to the wear and nothing else then I rebore, oversized piston and new rings are in order. 1 thing I do need to point out though is that alot of people replace rings. This can make the situation worse. As the cylinders wear so do the rings and they wear together. They bed in and become great buddies. Swapping out rings without a rebore is a bad idea and ususally cause bigger problems that it solves Great question, will bring this up in a future vid - matt
