Ha,Ha. I thought the title "Steaming" meant the bike was steaming out the exhaust. I had visions of you removing the head to replace the gasket, lol.

What is your opinion on using sugar soap for general bike cleaning? I tend to use it on muddy bits and reserve the more expensive degreasers on stuff that actually needs. Saying that I found a really cheap degreaser and chain cleaner on eBay. Will give that a test as its suppose to make like 500 bottles of degreaser for £15. Alternative is using the stuff I used back in the days I worked in pub kitchen to degrease floors. If it can take off an inch thick layer of cooking oil it should be able to clean the chain and engine too. Shouldn't fuck with rubber seals. Another thing is the clutch and brake cleaner I buy in bulk. But I need to do some testing on how it affects rubber seals as I have suspicion that is what dissolved the o rings on my old chain (no kidding there like like a skid mark left and is it lol).

Must admit I thought it was going to work better than that. I guess the ones used in car valeting must be steam with high pressure. Mr muscle works quite well as a degreaser.

Paul Ford Mr Muscle isn't a good as it used to be they're using ammonia now instead of sodium hydroxide. Like most things you get less bang for your buck. The shit on the bike is really baked on though. even the pressure washer found some bits tough. - matt
