I really appreciate you taking the time to make and post this repair video. You saved me from having to buy a repair manual and took a lot of the guesswork out of replacing my starter. Washed the bike and ordered my starter and gasket ahead of time. starter install was a breeze.

At 3:48; incorrect. I removed and reinstalled a starter all from the right side today pretty fast. You just need the right tools. There's no need to remove the left cover unless you're replacing the starter drive idle gear sprocket (some old ones don't freespin in one direction and it's good to replace those to prevent a backfire from destroying the starter gears), or replacing a clutch. One long bolt you leave on before you get it in place, not a big deal, just be sure to remove the 2 little gears and install them before you install the starter. Some people take the whole ring gear out but that's not necessary, just wiggle it a bit and maybe use some assembly goo like they use on transmissions and don't screw up the gasket. It can fit in the right side behind the a arm no problem.

The mark on your timing chain gear should be at the top where you can see on the cover when you have everything removed there should be a spot at the top that says top the mark on your timing chain gear should be right at the o

Think I'm missing part that goes on the end of that starter gear..not the gear it's self but that deal with bolt on the end that probably holds the starter gear in.

you mean on the left side under the panel? That's the starter drive idle gear sprocket. some older ones are fixed but later models will engage only in one direction to prevent a backfire from stripping the starter gears. I think they're interchangeable. I'll know next week when I switch mine out.
