As a machinist and an ex 2 stroke nut, I'd suggest going down the custom alloy waterjacket and wet liner route(whether its nickelsil, steel/chrome route, etc), as all of the mass produced 2strokes had crap transfer port/water cooling characteristics courtesy of the cast blocks, and they ate piston rings like a barsteward courtesy of the exhaust port, even with webbed ports! You could also try doing a custom billet HE24 piston job with one piece rings and/ptfe/ceramic skirts?? Lovey bike! :)

The one down side to living is USA we got none of the great 2 strokes of that era. RZ350 was last decent bike we had that was 2 stroke.

I am still waiting for a 2 stroke guy with time and money to take a KX500 motor and cram it in a ninja 250 or 300 frame hehe. No inspections in my state if I hade the money I would do it as I could easily get a tag for it. 300lb street bike with 65-70 2 stroke HP, to 100 mph would be faster than most liter 4 strokes. And front tires would last forever LOL dry rot before wearing them out.

Thought we were gonna see some boring. Aren’t those barrels plated already ? So did u strip the plating or can that be bored direct ? Cheers
@jaysshed48573 жыл бұрын
They are already plated but there is no point stripping them first as they have been bored from 56mm to 61mm. The plating is nickel so it machines out ok.
