Hello. Thanks for your comment. I am not confident of if is the same or not. But you can compare the 1978 kz650 components used at partzilla.com and see if is the same number. I heard there are a lot of common components between those bikes. Z wyrazami szacinku

thanks for your comment. Once in a while I have an issue starting it. I think is because the electric motor is not strong or fast enough. So first start with kick and when is warm it start good with the starter. thank you

Hello, great video, I have the exactly the same bike, with the same problem. One day I will buy a new starter clutch and do that job, but for now, I'm happy to use the Kickstarter 😅 The bike is in my collection, and will probably be the next owner who has to do this job. PS, are you working in your pyjamas dude?😂

@@rosarioboccia7268 hola. Saludos

Thank you very much for sharing. Looking forward to see more videos of you working on the KZ I have the exact same model, same color. Question, what was the first indicator that the starter clutch was going bad?
@FranciscoGalicia2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The starter was spinning. Like free rotation without moving the motor. Also the noise was weird. Happy to help.

How did you come to the conclusion that the starter clutch needed replacement? I also have a kz650 and my starter sometimes cranks the engine and sometimes it just spins.
@FranciscoGalicia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. When the crank spins it can be as the rollers are spinning because of the weak springs. I learned after that that you can stretch a bit the springs in order to avoid the mechanisms to spin. Where the barrels touch may be good to have it rough so they don't spin. Hope this helps
@johnlincoln7994 Жыл бұрын
Don't rough up any surfaces (as these are case hardened if you are able to rough them up you will have wrecked them) sprag clutches (or one way bearings or starter clutches) work on a lock up principle that only works in one direction , weak springs or flats on the rollers or both are what causes a slip (rattle) then you push the starter button, replacing these parts normally sorts out the problem , ps never try and start your bike with a low battery as this can cause early failure of starter clutches.
