Just came across your Chanel mate there’s one thing you forgot to do when you stripped down the calliper you forgot to take out the dust seal ring that fits where the piston goes you painted it the dust seal goes around it then you tap it back in place when you’ve put the piston In good vid mate

The 'O' rings go inside, not outside the bracket tube, so the bolts slide in a sealed & greased tube. Check the position during disassembly. The O rings are difficult to see inside the bracket tube as they sit in a groove. The dust seals alone go the outside. The presented sequence will work for a while, but the dust seal is doing the work of them misplaced O rings, which do nothing.

I'm just about to service the clutch master cylinder on my 89 ZX10 (very similar) The last muppet to mess with the bike, put parts 12 and 13 the wrong way around. I'm surprised it work at all.

Probably better off painting after rebuild. Brake fluid will strip paint.

The spacers go on the outside of the caliper , under the slide bolt rear nut in a recess , not inside as you show . . Brakes spongy with the spacer inside

Great channel and I've watched every episode as I'm currently restoring a 1978 Z650 Custom. Where do you get all of your brake parts from incl #4 in particular as according to my drawings it's no longer available through wemoto :-( Any guidance/tips gratefully appreciated. :-)
@TheAmateurBikeBuilder2 жыл бұрын
Glad you like them! #4 is rare than (well you know what i mean) not seen any about, if you have one, you might want to do what i did and make one, i have one so i could copy it , alternatives are you can try Z-power or ask on one of the Z650 forums

Hello and thank you for the video! I'm having issues with my brakes however. My Bracket willy nilly slides around on the 2 bolts, and my brake pad doesn't stay put and falls out of the bracket. I don't think i can use my brakes like this. any info would be helpful.

@@TheAmateurBikeBuilder How were you able to make it? isnt it made of rubber? If i stack some washers that could work right.
@TheAmateurBikeBuilder2 жыл бұрын
@@SnapdWrench i had some steel bar and as i had the other one cut it to size and drilled a hole through it, worked a treat, could try washers, maybe weld them and file to size

@@TheAmateurBikeBuilder I don't suppose you have those dimensions to those No.4 'plugs' to hand? I'm rebuilding a caliper and sadly both are missing. I've searched online but not been able to find any info beyond the original part number.
