I’ve got a 2012 with over 2200hrs on it now, still going strong. I did put taller tires and wheels along with a 2” lift kit on it. That gets it about the same clearance as the newer XC mules. I keep up with the regular maintenance on time and she still just purrs along. I like the fact they’re a little narrower than the Polaris and such as they fit through tight spots in the woods with no problem. They aren’t fast, but they are “ mules”. They’re also a lot quieter than the bigger ones and sip fuel like a hummingbird. I’d buy another in a heartbeat. Rarely even need 4wd or to lock the rear end, but it’s there if needed. Low range has plenty of grunt for most anything. The fact it can fit in a pickup bed is nice too, should you need to haul it.

Going downhill in low may give better engine braking especially in 4 wheel drive, along with a wee touch of throttle to keep the clutch engaged using left foot on brake.

If it were driven by a torque converter instead of a belt, it would be a good machine. The answer is ONLY HONDA!!!

Good review! I have the 2020 SX and to be honest I’ve punished it a bit more. I have property on cedar creek VA which makes this video creek look like a river. I have had water to the seat, air filter box seems to be waterproof for short periods at least, intake is at top of bars behind your head. It’s floats a bit, I was traveling downstream, upstream may have been a problem that deep in water with currents. Maybe video doesn’t tell all, but I’ve pushed up very steep hills and it climbs no problems. Climbs small logs (4-6”). Sometimes you need to let the wheels move SLIGHTLY to engage 4x4, lockers, N to R. Also good to point out no brake assist, you need to ride brakes on heavy incline but they hold up... I get concerned about prolonged hills and the drums holding water and rusting out over time. Keep in mind E-Brake only locks the rear brakes, heavy incline it will slide. I towed a broken golf cart and the CVT does just fine, it’s strong regardless of the sounds... I’m new to CVT.

So does the sx do really good in mud does it off road just as good as any utv the only reason I decided against it was because someone told me these aren’t for heavy off roading because they didn’t have the power was that person wrong I hope they were because I like the way it looks the sx one is what I’d go for because of the better tires
@kirbyvanduzer65652 жыл бұрын
The sx Xc le I meant to say because it looks more like an off roading version
@HammerIIHammer2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does very well off-road in the mud around the farm and trails through the woods etc and snow. If you are wanting a side-by-side for going through Sandune‘s, deep mud bogs, muddying etc. then you are better off with a Utv designed for that. This is a great all-around side-by-side it has a lot of torque so you can pull things with it/carry things such as firewood etc. But it is not a racing Utv/mudding Utv. If that makes sense, really depends on what your main intended purpose is. Hope this helps.

I have a 2013 610 XC Mule and it will go virtually anywhere. Hills, mud, rocks, you name it. Only thing that has slowed me down was a deep puddle that drowned it out, winched it out and it fired right up. It’s barbaric compared to some of the big $$ models out there, but my 610XC will go more places than they will because it’s so narrow. Will go pretty much anywhere a quad can go. I like simple and this is it. Can also use it for yard work to boot. Mine is pretty much the same as the new 2021 version I just saw save for some minor cosmetics and different style of tires. I highly recommend the 610XC for those wanting a SxS on a budget. It’s not a speed demon, but it’s perfect for putting around on atv trails.

@@tbrylowe Either way, it's ridiculously steep. A 60 percent slope means 60 foot vertical in 100 feet horizontal right? Yikes. I believe highways (interstates) are designed to not exceed 7 %. (some do, but they attempt to limit to 7)

Just ordered the same machine you showed us. Your comment about a high center of gravity made me think the 24" tires (and less ground clearance) aren't all bad. But I'm wondering, down the road, if I were to buy a set of 12x7 wheels on it (same 4/137 bolt pattern), if it would be functionally an XC model (when needed). Would like to know your thoughts on the matter.
@HammerIIHammer4 жыл бұрын
Congrats! Yes essentially the same model. From my understanding the XC only differences are, larger tires, 2 inch lift I believe, and some additional color/cosmetic options. Both are great machines. I chose the SX only due to cost and it works well on our property without the lift, have never gotten stuck in same ruts other family has gotten stuck in a 4010.
@HammerIIHammer4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the wheel well clearances, I don’t believe that would be a problem with the Xc tires on an SX essentially, but I’d check first to make sure.
@billalbion3 жыл бұрын
@@HammerIIHammer if both model's do 25mph the diff gearing must be different or the revs are cut back on the XC model. Higher gearing through bigger tyres may reduce engine performance and if brake drums are same size make for poorer braking.
