Great to see you back in the workshop Will. I do like the look of the tank, definitely worth the effort. Mate, don't struggle for want of a lathe. If you need bolt heads turned down or a milling cutter run down something or whatever, jiffy bag it up and send it to me. I'll do it and send it straight back. No bother, it's what it's all about. I enjoy following your projects. You could probably have the breather cover machined down at each corner and retained the stock bolts (shortened, perhaps) but now not sticking above the cover.

The line of the tank looks good but the clearance from the top of the head should be kept quite minimal. 😎👍🏻

That part with the head steady looks like something fitted to clean up the emissions (in states like California). Could it be removed completely and replaced with a flat plate with the head steady welded to it. That would resolve all your clearance issues.
