Just bought a new 2020. Only one in my state. Had to drive 200 miles to get it. Well worth it. Have 650 miles on it now. Love it. I'm 72yo and my last bike was a Yoshimura GSX-R 750. don't look good in plaster and bandages and my 1200 Nightster is a little too heavy. This bike has all the nostalgia of a 67 BSA w/ none of the pain !

I bought a 2019 model with 1,900 miles in 2022. Been riding it for a year now and absolutely love it. I don't ride much on the highways although it handles fine - not really a cruiser for long distances but it's a blast to ride.

I own the W800 Street and am insanely happy with it 😁 The bias ply tires feel fine and have a cool retro look. They do not squirm at all. Kawasaki linked with Dunlop in the development of them. The bike sounds great with the stock exhaust. I've ridden 10,000km in 7 months and can't stay off of it. I'm not sure what the tester is referring to when he says it bounces. It vibrates a little when new and loosens up after about 4000km. It never vibrates annoyingly, in fact it feels like you are on a real motorcycle, not a sewing machine. The bike delivers smooth power no matter what situation (in fact more than I can use and as much as I want). It is much lighter than I am used to so the 490lb feels quite flickable and easy to ride slow such as in tight U-turns.

I've ridden my W800 for 5 years. Great in town and country lanes. Not fast at all. Very practical. 65-70 mpg (proper British gallons). In best 3 bikes i've ever owned.
@roadgent79214 жыл бұрын
@Stephen Fell The best I've had is 72mpg after fitting a nose screen. Didn't try that hard either, just round town and B roads. I reckon 80 would be possible with a good effort.

@Chadfe Vision So to check, yours is a 2019 W800?
@roadgent79213 жыл бұрын
@Chadfe Vision Brit and US miles the same. My bike is a 2015 version. For 2019 they might have made mods to the fuel injection but I doubt it would affect mpg to make it worse. I use standard 95 octane and ride only in quite fair weather at a steady pace ( i have a Z900 for faster rides). I would probably think it's the combination of mad riding and 91 fuel maybe? Runs smooth,? any fouling on plugs?

I don't believe it is the bias play tires as much as the tread pattern. I`ve had sport demons on bikes and they handled great. Chassis, suspension, tire size al play into the feel.

Any of the W series bikes are nice to ride. But the paint on this one is hideous. I don't ever recall any bike from the late 60' s - early 70"s that had colours like that. The standard model is much better looking. Hard to believe this is the same company that got the look of their recent Z900RS so spot on, does this to a bike that's aimed squarely at the same rider that might be looking at a Bonneville. the colour & fairing looks like it was designed by the Sawzall crowd. Take a look at some of the paint schemes on the original W series from the 1960's - that's what they should have done. The red W800 in this video is more what would sway me from a Bonneville or even the Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaqVp6Bue6xlbrs
@erich.43054 жыл бұрын
I agree. I want to like this bike but the color combos is awful.. I think the Royal Enfield Continental GT is a better looking bike. I like the RE but would have more confidence in the W800 because of Kawasaki's time tested reliability.

I bought one new starting to show signs of rust with under 400 miles on it poor quality expensive and price is dropping through the floor discounts up to 3k and still can’t shift them. Rear foot brake pedal to high at lowest setting no chance of feathering that. A swine to clean too many awkward welded bits on it especially around the rear swinging arm. Managed to get rid but lost a fortune but it is nice looking that’s why I bought it.

Are you sure you've got the right video?
@angellosmalefakis13214 жыл бұрын
YOU are right. The discounts are at 3K. Almost brought it. Thought as NOT popular or there is a reason for it. YOU hit on the button! It must be the poor quality of the welds or the rust.

I call bull shit. 10,000 km on my W800 Street and it still looks and works like brand new. I expect it will for a very long time. The brakes feel great, the welds are first class and no sign of rust.
