Kawasaki is every rider's wet dream especially when we talk about power, handling and speed. Kawasaki might not be the big motorcycle manufacturer but when decides to set the game rules everyone else steps back. I still proudly ride me 99 ZZR 1100, a pioneer bike of its time. I admire Z1300 and I'm looking to get one but there are not many available. You are lucky to get the riding chance to live to ride the monster. Cheers!

After owning a 1983 A5 for decades I can say that they are electric motor smooth but they handle like a block of housing units. Its a beast to ride. Sitting on 80kph in traffic, overtaking other cars can spin the rear tyre as you notice the tacho rise without going any faster. The only drawback is to get anyone who knows how to work on one and getting parts. Usually to get OEM parts turns onto a global search. Generator rotor, left hand controls on handlebars, air rear shock absorbers which are sealed units, unobtainable so far. Owning a 40 year old bike has its drawbacks but they are fun to ride.

I owned a Z1300 Z1A1 DFI model for over six years and without doubt it was the most awesome bike I have ever ridden. Prior to this I owned the Honda 1100F, CB750K3 and 550K3. Each had it's advantages and disadvantages as you would expect but I was pleasantly surprised with the Z1300 low speed manoeuvring and of all of them was the easiest to do a U turn on. For a while I used to commute to work on it and I found myself taking longer and longer to get to work as each morning I would go a bit further out of my way in order to extend the ride. When I got to work I would always have the Z1300 smile on my face that lasted all day. Of all the bikes I've owned there is a special place in my heart for the Z13 then and now. Yes, It was a bit over the top but the magnificent view from up there will stay with me for the rest of my life. In order for Kawasaki to recreate a bike of such magnitude in this era would be difficult with global warming and the push towards liquid Hydrogen vehicles the internal combustion engine's days will soon be numbered. Squeezing more and more power out of smaller engines seems to be the way manufacturers are heading but the thought of what they could achieve with a six cylinder engine using today's technology is tantalising. The Z1300 was a shooting star, brilliant but short lived.

Hi Robert, thanks a lot for your comment and for sharing your personal memories on the Z1300 - I really appreciate that 👍👍. I do not get the chance to ride the 1300 very often, but every time that experience makes me smile for the rest of the day, just as you described 😊. My first bike ever was the CB550F that you can see in our Black Forest Video, so I definetly like the list of bikes that you owned prior to the Big Six 💚. Since Kawasaki has surprised all of us numerous times in the past, I am not willing to give up hope yet 😉... I would love to see what they could do with a six cylinder engine and modern technology during the 2020s. Therefore, let's wait and see what the upcoming years will bring. Cheers, have a great day & a good start into the New Year!!

@KICKSTART Motorcycle Squad I own both CBX Z/78 and a Z1300 A5 DFI/85 drive them weekly. Both 170000 km they are more vibration free than my new GL 1800 model 2018, only the CBX has a narrow vibration of the chain around 100km/hr. The Z is definitely a winner for the smooth ride. I cannot part with these two... have so many beautiful memories, with like-minded soul-friends we have done East Anatolia Gürbulak, Doğubeyazıt/Ağrı, several times (1979 - 1988) the war in Yugoslavia ended these fantastic journeys. Also the KZ 1300 was the only one that made my hands shake with Adrenalin after every ride. Yeah it was heavy, but the thing would go from 0 to 60 MPH in about 3 seconds!

Wish I still had mine. Most awesome bike I've ever had. Due to the wisdom of the US Congress, the speedometer pegged out at 85 MPH, for a 55 MPH national speed limit. which was reached early on in second gear, and... After that, it didn't matter, I didn't care, the sound that thing made from about 5,000 RPM on up just seemed to switch the brain off, the right wrist on, and lock a smile on the face. I used to grin and squint so hard my contacts would peel off and pop out. As for his question, YES, they SHOULD bring it back, with aluminum and ultralight frame, as light as possible, with great handling, stopping, and retro styling, with maybe a few updates like cam tensioner, and maybe being able to change the oil without pulling entire exhaust system, and better electronics etc and add more gearing. Mine would easily peg the tachometer in 5th gear and still have more than enough power to keep going for another gear or two. Yeah do all of that and then, call up Mr. Rocket, and Max, and see what's up.

Would probably even consider to buy one of those 😊. Thx again, ride safely & best regards to the US

I had a 1979 KZ1300 for 12 years. It was a great bike particularly on the highways on the west coast in Canada (mountain country). One thing was that the rider needed to be tall and have long legs. I remember it was about 32 inches to the seat from the ground so the rider needed to be about 5'11" to be able to stand stopped with both feet on the ground (I'm 6'3"). Didn't like slow driving in town and tended to get warm with the rad fan going on all the time. With the big Kawa fairing it was heavy (near 800 lb. I remember). Anyway great memories.

As a 72 year old drag bike racer I can tell you that the commentator has no idea what he is talking about! Kawasaki already had a road racer in the KZ900. The KZ1300 was built as a touring monster that could compete with the Honda Gold Wing. In 1979 a few of us speed crazy kids added a turbo charger to a 1300 taking the horse power to roughly 250 on the Dyno. While never a Moto X road racer, believe me no one wanted to face me at the drag strip. In factory stock livery though a spectacular comfortable all day tour rig.

The problem with Germany if my memory serves is just that unless you're on the Autobahn there are speed trap cameras everywhere. So if you're on back roads speed at your own risk. However most of the times around 2008 they didn't send many flash tickets to Americans with a SOFA drivers license 🪪

Hi Pax, thanks a lot for your comment, the radar traps are indeed a disturbance when driving in Germany. Nevertheless, since motorcycles do not have a license plate in the front, the pictures are useless and you'll not receive a ticket in most cases... Greetings to the US & ride safely
