First ride out in my new surroundings on my new (to me) 2018 Kawasaki z900rs. Sure I'll miss the mean streets of west London but I could get used to this!

The longer tail fairing and grab rail as with the original, fantastic, love the Z1B styling .I bought my first bike a new KH 250 B2 in October 1977. To be honest, I preferred the low centre of gravity with the triples. Always been a happy Kawasaki owner.

I've always had a thing for 2 stroke engines myself. If I had the money, I would definitely be adding a H1 to the collection. One day maybe.

I've always been into classic bikes so for me the looks are perfect. The first time my dad rode it, he said it reminded him of being on the original z1 back in the 70s. Not just because of the looks but the rider stance and engine characteristics too. Kawasaki really have done an amazing job with this bike.

@UnburdenedByWhatHasBeen Жыл бұрын
@GhettoSuguru I don't disagree with that. I guess they were trying to tap into yamahas mt09 market share. The z1000 is a nice bike, it's just a little on the heavy side. You don't feel it when you ride as much but you do when you are pushing it around.

@@GhettoSuguru The Z900 was the icon of the 70s, not the Z1000. The Z1000 was a stopgap before the next generation GPZ bikes of the 80s.

Z900RS.. they can call it hipster all day long, I will tell you it's the single most comfortable motorcycle I've ever sat on.. Though I tend to sit right where the strap goes across the seat because I have really long arms and really long thigh bones.. on top of just being 6'10. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to start the one I sat on, the dealership wanted to leave that until they had a buyer for it, they hadn't even put the battery in it. If I had one the first thing I'd do is ditch the factory double walled header for an Akropovich stainless piece just to ditch half the weight. Even though we don't smog bikes in California I'd still leave the cat and muffler stock just because they start sounding harsh the freer flowing the exhaust is.. like most 4 cylinder engines, if you keep the exhaust flow slow it is more thumpy sounding.

Gah damn bbg 6’ 10”?? And here I was worried about fitting at 6’ 4” Thanks for the insight!
@OtisENGINEuity
@OtisENGINEuity 11 ай бұрын
@@MovieSoCrass yeah, they are surprisingly light too. I took it off the stand and had the guy stand there and I leaned it over with slight pressure on the bars just to keep the wheel straight and leaned it over with my legs to about 45 degrees and stood it right back up with my legs. The way they are balanced you'd think it'd be like moving a Harley but it's not. Right at 490lbs and a 32 inch seat height they are freaking amazing. The only downside I had was that the engine is really wide right at the crank and my size 15's kept hitting it and I had to turn my toes outward, but I also don't put my toes on the pegs like a lot of wannabe racers do, I keep them right in the arch of my foot where it gives good grip and doesn't kill my feet/ankles. I'd want to move the pegs forward but there's just no room. The one thing that I'd really want would be 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch higher bars and about 4 inch wider bars that are kept really flat just to fit my wide shoulders better. The plus to that is it also gives better leverage for handling. Oh and I have a 34 1/2 inch inseam if that helps.

Beautiful colour scheme. This bike is so intriguing to myself and in the future if I ever come back to biking it will be on my top list. The only “downside” for myself is 4 cylinder engine which I find a bit bland although this one sounds very good. The other option I consider is Yamaha 900xsr with its triple engine but it’s a coin toss between the two. Enjoy it!

No, that’s the view I get with the camera facing straight ahead. Sometimes with adventure bikes I angle the camera up a bit so it picks up less of the tank/dash and a bit more of the road.

Got an se yellow ball new on the road 1st March. Love the bike apart from the snatchy throttle but getting used to it. Putting it back in the garage for a month though, weather crap, snow predicted and salt all over the roads
@BLPmotorbikeRides
@BLPmotorbikeRides Жыл бұрын
A lot of people have mentioned the snatchy throttle but I can't say I've really noticed. Although I also ride a Honda nc750x which is terrible for it so maybe the Kawasaki just feels smoother by comparison. I met a guy at the Ace Cafe around a month ago on a new se. He'd only had it a day. Lovely looking bike.

Road craft for me is all about information...Road signs and markings, being aware of damp patches and/or leaves in sheltered spots etc, etc. This includes indicating within reasonable time, and at about 4:00 you didn't indicate until you were right on the junction. Why? Information works both ways and if I was riding/driving behind you, I would have thought you to be a noob. There was a road sign well before the junction so I think this was a last second decision. Not good in a car or especially on a bike. Ride safe.
