These two bikes were my shortlist. Ultimately I purchased the ZX4RR over the R7 because of two main reasons. The 4cyl screamer, and insurance costs. Im paying 1/3 insurance vs the R7. I would still love to have the R7, but i am very happy with my ZX4RR.

If the Yamaha had the same engine displacement then it wouldn't even come close to the Kawasaki. Having an inline four takes me right back to when I was in my twenties and the Jap 400cc bikes was excellent. there's too many parallel bikes out, it's refreshing.

I’d say there’s a couple big issues for both. The RS660 exists, the ZX6R is nearly the same price, and the Ninja 400 that costs half the price is better than both of them.
