Good video. I have a zx7r and zx9r and when I spraped my calipers, afterwards I wrapped a piece of fine wet&dry around a flat plate and then carefully slid the caliper where the Tokico name is over the paper, making sure to keep the caliper flat and not tilted. This brings back the manifacturer name nicely. I saw someone else do this several years ago and a neat trick. I subscribe to your channel and followed the progress of your track bike - looking really good.

Thank you ya I was going to do that but don’t really want to go to deep with it being a track bike. But ya looks nice when done

Haha, that was my thought too. Doesn't take that long either and it gives it a factory look rather than a look which can give the impression that the caliper was hurriedly painted. I also prefer powder coating, especially for calipers as it's way more durable than rattle can.

I didnt even attempt to clean mine, just swapped em for some 4pots. That was on my C model,,, got an f1 now, 4pots as stock lol. Was weird though. Had the 6 pots on my Gsx1400 suzuki,, never had any issues at all with them. Weird. You can get Triumph 4pots for the 9,,, it used to be cheaper, plus it makes a good talking point at bike meets . Goid luck with the bike mate. Nice to see another zx9r up and running. 👍😎

Love the content. Couldn’t stay with the 6 pots. Had to go to the 4 pot Nissin ones and rebuilt those. Already feels better !

@@johnshomegarage7828 I’d love to learn more about what you did on your machine. I just finished rebuilding my zx9 (2001) as well from front wheel bearing to back wheel bearing and I also painted the frame! I kept it as a street build even though I do track my bike as well only because I can’t have a dedicated track bike right now. Be great to compare notes and experiences.
