GilxSullinger He still can get better defensively. Honestly, the best man defender I've seen is Dennis Rodman. Kawhi isn't exactly at that level but he is really good. Kinda like Pippen but not as athletic.

pippen and rodman hasn't really gotten a chance to guard our new gen guard which excel in ball handling and long range abilities which is super lethal when its worked with screens . they struggled big time to guard allen iverson and kobe . i would say kawhi leonard is smarter when it comes to forcing ball handler to strong side defense and trapping . for your information trapping a ball handler is better than a blk shot . 1)you burn the shot clock and even if they receive the passed out ball , its most likely gonna be a very desperate deep behind 3 pt line shot . 2) easy to intercept the limited passing line that the trapped guy is passing which leads to a fast break. kawhi is faster than pippen but vertical leap ? i dk

Kawhi plays defense the way I was taught play up on your man with your feet use your hands when you got him engaged. For some reason people do not like to play D anymore. When someone has a ' wicked" handle, they may able to get you the first few times but if you stay up on it, you will be able to disrupt them unless they protect the ball.

Usually a lot of the guys with the wicked handles only have a few go-to moves that you can figure out over the course of the game, at least in rec ball leagues or at the gym. Like you mentioned though, if you stay on them and don' get discouraged you'll most likely start putting the clamps on them

You're a rookie, take a look at Kawhi career he has been strongly improving season by season, just a few years in the league and already is back to back defensive player of the year, all-star, finals mvp, haves a ring on his finger on his second year in the league, just saying that took Lebron a while to accomplish. Do you even watch the Spurs play? Curry is having one of the worst seasons of his career in this league. And not just that his defense is horrible. He gets steals but only because of loose balls. And Kevin Durant is only a scorer, similar to Curry is terrible on the defensive end. He's a 7 footer that cannot defend the perimeter or post for his life. The well rounded players are the best players, which is exactly why they tally up wins and championships. I mean look at the Warriors team, 2 MVP's and a team full of all stars, and look at the Spurs, It's literally only Kawhi doing anything on a nightly basis and then Lamarcus contributes too. Yet considering that The Spurs demolished the Warriors in the first game of the season and the Warriors are only 2 games ahead of the Spurs albeit with all the talent the Warriors have. So definitely Kawhi is the second best in the league.

Possibly the most feared perimeter defender since Scottie Pippen. Too bad there isn't much post play anymore so we could see how Leonard would defend in the post. His defense is very much like a throwback defense to the Jordan and Pippen styles. The way he takes calculated swipes at the ball, the way the plays the passing lanes, the way he closes out and the way he lets the offensive player think he's beat but in fact goes to where he anticipates the play happening at. Leonard is such a joy to watch. Imagine if he wasn't asked to carry such a large offensive load for the Spurs, how much more havoc he could wreak on defense.

I honestly have troubles on offense every time i play pick up. So i always try to make up by D, and it works wonders. I don't understand why a lot of people are looking down on good D. Kawhi is a prime example of a beautiful D that can lead to an excellent offense.
