Kawit Church. Grand Magdalenean Procession. Venerated Images from 7 parishes of Luzon.

The 100 days celebration towards the 400th Year Celebration of Evangelization of Kawit, Cavite (Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Saint Mary Magdalene on July 22, 2024).
Kawit Parish (The Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Saint Mary Magdalene) celebrates its 400 Years of Evangelization with a Grand Magdalenean Procession. It was participated by other parishes around Luzon dedicated to the patronage of Saint Mary Magdalene like the parishes of Amadeo, Cavite; Calamba, Laguna; Magdalena, Laguna; Olongapo City; Pililla, Rizal; and Poblacion, Sorsogon.
Inspired by the theme “Vidi Dominium: Nakita ko ang Panginoon” (I have seen the Lord), it will be opened by a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Most Rev. Reynaldo Evangelista DD, Bishop of Imus at 4:30 PM at the St. Mary Magdalene Church. The procession starts at 6:30 PM, June 15, 2024.
The Kawintenyo youth, in the video, dance the Karakol in jubilation. Karakol is a form of prayer done in dance in honor of Saint Mary Magdalene, patroness of Kawit.
The Church was declared a Diocesan Shrine on July 20, 2023 and is now officially referred to as the Sanctuario Diocesano y Iglesia Parroquial de Santa Maria Magdalena (Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Mary Magdalene).
The decree was read by Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista on the aforementioned date at the Church. As a Diocesan Shrine, the church becomes a center for pilgrimage where the faithful pays homage to Saint Mary Magdalene, had communion, and confession praying for the intention of the Holy Father, the Pope, and is, thus, expected to receive the indulgence. The parish priest is also given a new reference as rector.
There are various other parishes in the Philippines that are dedicated to the patronage of Saint Mary Magdalene. Among these parishes, the Parish of Saint Mary Magdalene in Kawit, is the third, so far, to be declared as a Diocesan Shrine. The first to receive the declaration as the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Saint Mary Magdalene is in Pililla, Rizal (2018). The second is in Olongapo City (2022) now referred to as the Diocesan Shrine of Saint Mary Magdalene and Parish of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz.
