This video got me to subscribe for my love of the Chiefs and Kay Adams covering sports. I'm not going to mention the other show, but I miss her on that. Anyway, as a Chiefs fan, I don't have the animosity I had for the Patriots or the Raiders or the Broncos. It's a different vibe. Buffalo is that worthy opponent that really tests your mettle and validates greatness. Everytime I see the Bills on the schedule, I circle it and look forward to the competition. If you've watched the Chiefs all year...yes, they don't look the same. But I've noticed the level of play when they go up against a sub 500 team (AFC west teams LOL) and then they play totally physical and competitive against the Bills. I think with the history of success and failures I agree that the Chiefs Kingdom and the Bills Mafia are very similar and both amazing teams cross paths to give what I think is the best kind of football...angry football.

Both are great cold-weather teams. The frozen plains of Buffalo, on natural grass, is a classic setting for the Divisional round. While I think KC is better at running the ball than prior incarnations, let's not kid ourselves. In the Miami game, KC came out throwing on all 3 downs, converting on 3rd and 10 to Kelce. Even without an impressive downfield passing game, Mahomes is such a great short-stop in the short passing game, that it opens things up for the running game. I think they need to generate lighter boxes and get defenses on their heels. People just look at the averages, and don't factor in how much their clear preference to throw the rock gives them better running lanes when they hand it off. But if Reid CAN win just by running, he will. Everybody thinks Reid is pass happy, but he builds his O-Lines for pass pro, first, run-blocking second. And he schemes his runs to catch a D out of position, honoring the pass. He's never had a dominant rushing attack, but for one season, and he ran the legs off (achilles tear) Jamaal Charles that year he had his best rushing attack he ever had in KC, right before Branden Albert went back home to Miami, and KC still had all of Pioli's picks under contract. Recall, Rodney Hudson flew the coop ASAP when his rookie deal expired, and went to play in then-Oakland for a massive contract. Oakland overpaid, but it hurt KC, so to the Davis's, it was worth it. FAIK, Al might've put that signing in his will. Hudson was Pioli's best OL pick and he couldn't or wouldn't re-sign him. But the original point was that if you look at that last year with Albert and Hudson, KC was a running team. They just exposed Charles to too many hits. Charles wanted the rock, and they should've kept feeding him, but not in games where he took multiple hits on multiple plays. That's when they could've used me as an advisor! "Better sit Jamaal a bit, as a precaution. He's taking a beating out there, today." Maybe he wouldn't've blown his achilles. I think it likely that KC will have to prove it can move the chains, consistently with the passing attack, preferably by hitting on the early downs, rather than waiting for 3rd and 10 to convert to Kelce like their first drive in the Wild Card round. If Mahomes sees they've got the numbers, he can give it to Pacheco in the RPO and be pretty confident of positive yards, plus whatever push they're getting at the end of runs from that ruthless offensive line of theirs. That's a 2-edged strategy, because the back has to protect the ball in the scrum, but I know they'll try to push pile and wear down the Buffalo D that way. It's just in their nature. It's hard to gauge just how good KC is, even after the Miami game. It's HARD to win the last 6 games of the season, which Buffalo has done. They bear some of the marks of those victories on their injury report. Have they weakened themselves too much just to get to the tournament and win home field against the Chiefs, or are they on the way down, like so many early-Reid teams in KC? I don't think the time is quite ripe for CEH, although if they get Wany back at left tackle for the next two games (assuming there are next games for KC), they could get some mileage out of zone runs to the left side. The kid's still learning the ropes, but I suspect that if he hadn't had the concussion, he would've kept starting at left tackle over Donovan Smith. Smith's got better mobility than Orlando Brown, Jr., from last season, but I think if Morris can establish himself, the Chiefs will be able to expand their playbook, next season, and potentially in the AFCCG and SB. Keys to the game. 1. BUF 4-man rush vs Mahomes. 2. BUF's ability to establish the run. 3. Unforced errors on either side, but especially the KC side (false starts, holds, pass interference, fumbles, INTs)

@wingedbuffalo46709 ай бұрын
NOT accurate for the KC guy to say that "before Patrick Mahomes the Bills and Chiefs shared the same legacy" of disappointment (and then references only the Joe Montana game where he got concussed). The fact of the matter is that, long before Mahomes, the Chiefs already WON a Super Bowl (SB IV), whereas the Bills have NEVER YET won one. Also, when the Chiefs lost SB I to the Packers, they got there by beating the Bills in Buffalo for the 1966 AFL Championship (which would have been a 3-peat for the Bills had they won, and would have also meant the Bills would have had the honor of representing the AFL in the first Super Bowl [and many experts of the day stated that the Bills were actually better suited they way they were constructed to give the Packers a much tougher game than KC ... but they didn't earn the right to prove what they could have done against Lombardi's Packers]). The main point is that the Bills have NOT had the same level of Super Bowl success as KC had pre-Mahomes (let alone with Mahomes). The Bills need to win this game AND TWO MORE to finally get over the hump.

@RIChiefs9 ай бұрын
If you are confident in the playoffs, then you are going to lose. All the teams are good, so how could anybody be confident. If you are then you are taking your opponent too lightly. Any team can beat any team when it comes to the playoffs because those teams are the best and have earned their spots. So without the injuries you shouldn't be confident either. I'm not confident the chiefs will win even with all the Bills injuries. The teams are so evenly matched and normally they are close games. I can't stand playing the Bills every year because it is such a tough match up. But makes for great football.

PM is great. Nothing I say below is meant to detract from that, only pointing out that Allen has nothing left to prove to me. Allen already slew the playoff dragon in 2021. He took every punch PM had and punched back harder. Only the greatest example of coaching malpractice in history blew that game. 3 different mistakes in 13 seconds, each fireable on their own. The fact no one even covered Kelce is one of them. Played to protect a TD when they needed a FG. Again, no shade at PM, but the proverbial grandma could have made that throw. He didn’t do anything great to win that game. The coaches lost it. Allen had won 3 times on the road arrowhead. The narrative of playoff games being different has no basis in reality. The field is the same size. Ball is the same. Game is the game. Without the aforementioned coaching disaster, we don't have this convo. They are 3-3 with 5 games away from Buffalo and the one home game has no crowd. Additionally, PM entered the league with a perennial playoff roster already there to include a future HOF coach, TE and WR and was able to sit behind a competent starter for a year. Allen entered the league with one of the worst franchises for nearly 2 decades in the middle of a complete rebuild and had to carry the entire franchise immediately. The fact Allen is in the convo, or even in the same ballpark statistically, given their vastly different scenarios (heck Allen still has to play against his own coach who blew 3 games this year) shows how elite Allen is. For the third time, PM is an amazing player. I am only pointing out Allen has nothing left to prove to me. With single elimination tournaments, randomness determines outcomes more often than sports people want to admit. So long as he keeps ballin' the way he has, it will come eventually. If not, he still would have given me a career of amazing football, just like Jim Kelley and crew. Edit: Good luck to both teams, and i can't wait for amazing football! Awesome to see Sal on one of these shows!

Yes, Kay, that's that they (and YOU) will say if Josh Allen loses. And they will all sound dumb. Manning was 2-4 with no Superbowl appearance through the point in his career that Josh is now. Josh is 5-4, so far, tracking better than Manning. Elway didn't win the SB until the very end of his career. Saying, "if you don't win the game today, you'll NEVER win", when there are a bunch of factors at play, is just an asinine statement to make. The history of sports is replete with 1st time things happening. "that's the first time this player or this team has beaten that player or that team". I dunno, doesn't feel like I can properly express how dumb of a statement that is. Of course none of this mean Allen will win. Look at Marino, one of the finest QBs the NFL has ever seen. No SB win and constantly losing to Jim Kelly. Doesn't mean Marino wasn't great. But to say the Bills can never defeat KC in the playoffs if they don't win today is just a really dumb thing to say.
