Kay Schwarz157 is a painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited both nationally and in Switzerland. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as ZEITKUNST Magazine and Leipziger Volkszeitung. Schwarz157 describes his figurative pieces as expressive and stylized head studies, which he relates to epistemological moments. Above all, he believes that art is a tool for enlightenment.

Basquiat epigone (in the comments). Let me be a little bit more nuanced. When Keith Haring (like Basquiat, he started as a "street artist") visited Australia (if I'm not mistaken in 1984) some people accused him of imitating some paintings of the original inhabitants of Australia ... paintings which he did not know and never had had seen ... On one of the works by Kay Schwarz 157 (a.k.a. Donnie Karacho 157 - see the signature on some of the works shown here) you see writ: "veni, vidi, signati". Is he "imitating" Julius Caesar ? Yes, but he puts his own spin on it. In my opinion, these are the two possibilities: without (consciously) imitating Basquiat's work, he creates work that (somewhat) resembles that work. He knows Baquiat's (later) work, partly follows it, but gives it his own twist. Because: "You build by borrowing". (Marlon James / interviewed by Mary Beard / BBC II television / February 18, 2021). You could also say that he "steals" from Fernand Léger, who was one of the first to paint (mostly black) contours of heads and figures on brightly colored surfaces, so that that color can only be partially seen within that head or within that figure. Unless there is obvious evidence: there is nothing more dubious than (answering) the question of imitating, being inspired by - etc. All this is totaly apart from the question whether Schwartz's / Karacho's work is worth seeing. ​

Basquiat used that little image of a crown in many of his works. That can create a problem for some artists in that they will sometimes be compared to Basquiat . Some objects or symbols become an identifying signature almost like a trademark. This can be a challenge for an artist if he chooses to use these iconic little objects. Kay's expressionistic figures have their own style. I don't see Basquiat. I like Kay's work.
