You can always throw a 5hp Coleman on the back. 54 pounds. Get from point a to b then trolling afterwards. I've been looking at it and I think it comes with a 5 gallon external tank. Can upgrade to a bigger tank if that is true for good long runs to different spots.

Hey man, I have heard the Frontier 12 paddles well for it’s width. What are your thoughts on how it paddles and do you know of any kayak to compare it to? Awesome channel by the way!

I love it! its a lot easier than I anticipated. it doesn't paddle as well as my pursuit but it really is not far off!

How do you like the port at the top of the kayak where you put it. I was thinking the samething. Do you have any issues with water getting into the hull?

No issues with water intrusion! I used marine silicone on the screw holes but that’s it. To me it was the best spot for it on the f12.

I leave the motor in the back until I unload. But I cartop on my Tahoe. If I was using a trailer, I’d probably think about leaving it on.

So how did you end up liking the lithium battery? Did you get 8hrs/day out of it while using the spot lock?

Love it! Hasn’t died on me once while on the water! Used it multiple trips without charge too!

Question...with how light the liftum why not put it in storage box in front ... Your trolling motor weights 43 lbs .. This would save running wires to rear .... Longer wires use power also .. With our weight in seat like 200lbs say with battery in front and motor would be under 100 lbs .. This would help level out weight in kayak ? Only saying

I found that the the weight of the battery doesn't really matter to me since its so light. I used appropriate gauged wire for the amp draw. Plus, I use the front storage hatch for a change of clothes, first aid, water and extra soft plastics. Did not want to give that storage up.

His is 60ah lift ,I would get 100 AH for 55 # thrust motor ...

60ah lithium would be the same as a 100ah deep cycle. You can only take that 100ah down 40-50%, without hurting the battery. You could take the 60ah lithium to 10ah.

It’s an amped 60ah. It’s never died on me on the water and I’ve gone back to back trips without charging it. Don’t recommend that but I’ve done it! My motor is a 45lb thrust so the 60ah does the job.

I'v contacted a few nucanoe dealers today trying to find a frontier 12 supplies are limited. So I contacted nucanoe and they said they can't keep up with demand since covid-19 hit a lot of people are out of work so they have more free time on their hands and I guess there hit the lake

Yes, the Nucanoe frontier sells like hot cakes...I just happen to go into a dealer who had one on display and she said that they just ordered 6 of them, 3 black and 3 aqua and one of the aqua was already sole. She told me they were being shipped on the 8th of July and would be here around the 12th of July...well, I did a lot of research and found the frontier to be the best seller and so many good reviews that I had to get one, plus I weigh 280lbs and the frontier weight capacity is 650lbs compared to the larger Nucanoe Persuit that has a weight capacity of 500lbs. To say the least I bought one of the two remaining aqua frontiers and I can't wait to get it, I am so excited.

Pursuit is better at cutting waves and faster..has rod storage ... Both you can stand up in ... Pursuit is better paddling ... Frontier 12 is 5 inches wider .... Pursuit holds 500# and frontier 650...

Great video Chris, just purchased a frontier 12. What length shaft is the trolling motor and is the length addjustable as far as how deep you can have it in the water?

Yes it is. I have not cut the shaft down either. Plan is to put this on a boat at some point. As well.

Nice video man How did the 60AH battery work out? im looking at doing the same thing for next year with a 55 lb spot lock trolling motor my kayak will be 95lb with nothing in it and i go out 10hr or more most trips

Honestly, it worked great! It never died on me during a trip. But to be safe, I may be going bigger in 2021.

I'm looking at that and the Wilderness Systems Recon 120 on the nucanoe what is standing up like on it is it super stable? and I also i have heard of people having leaks after two years?

For me it was spotlock. I wanted that feature so I went with a bow mount that included that.

I’m confused. I don’t see what you mean. I didn’t add pulleys? Plus I wanted a clean install where wires weren’t running on the deck to the battery in the back. I’m not sure you can achieve that without going through the hull. Plus I feel like it’s model dependent. On the unlimited I would do it completely different. On a hobie PA, different. Anyways, to each their own, just don’t think your way you are describing wouldn’t work for me.

It'll work for any kayak the wires are different I ran those thru the hull you hafto to have them off the deck, all I am talking about is drilling in the kayak or the deploy pedal on the motor if you attach your line to the mechanism that actually releases the lock you just pull straight back but yes to each there own my only thing about the whole situation is having holes for water to get in the hull I haven't had any water in my hull from doing it this way.

Not sure if you actually watched the video or not because I don’t have any pulleys or anything. I drilled two holes for wiring the plugs and that’s it. No pulleys, no other holes or lines or wires. And no water in my hull from any of my plugs.
