Beautiful river. Looked like a realy fun trip. I live in the Missouri Ozarks and we float creeks and rivers here. Most are gravel bottom and very clear. I float in kayaks or a 22ft wooden jon boat I built. I love camping along the rivers and creeks its so pieceful. Thanks for sharing your trip.

This looks like such an awesome trip! thanks for making this video, I have been wanting to do a similar trip in this section of the Manistee for a little while now, did a canoe trip starting at hodenpyl and ending at tippy last year and it was so cool! Cant wait to get back out on the water, think I will bring my jon boat with mud motor this time though so I can cruise upstream then float down and not need a shuttle vehicle.

Hey i was wondering how long it takes to kayak the approx 12 miles of the Manistee from Hodenpyl Dam to the Red Bridge ? Wasn't sure if you have done that section or not? Thinking about hiking the Manistee side and then Kayaking back since the Red Bridge is still being worked on. Thanks!

Enjoy your videos. We are planning on making a trip to the Manistee in mid-September. Do you have any recommendations for a four night float? Prefer a remote section. Also going to do the Pine River after we finish with Manistee.Thanks.

How's it going? Watched this one before, but I'm revisiting for some extra research. Me and a friend are planning a 100 mile trip on the Manistee in a couple weeks, From Sharon Rd to Harvey Rd bridge. How often are the camping situations after 131 to Harvey? Seems better than the sections before Sharon. Looks like you found some nice ones. I've never been down river of Chippewa Landing. Thinking about doing it in 5 nights, but possibly 4.

You guys use small kayaks for your trips. Why!?? I use a Carolina 16 footer and it carries all of my gear. No need for a drag behind cooler. And you guys were all fishing spinning gear for trout. I fish totally top-water and dry fly for the Brookies. Much more fun for my limited time on the river. I have spinner gear for trout, but feel it is too easy to catch fish with it. I am out there to get away from the masses and get closer to nature. I may pot a Grouse or a rabbit for the pot. I may take a 16 in. Brookie for the pan. But these things are part of the experience of being in the UP. Read Hemingway. What he said about the lands up there. But it is not a land of the faint of heart. Lopers have no idea about the land above the bridge. Snow, insects, bogs, deer crossings, ......I could go on for years. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the wilderness. But be prepared. Or the wilderness will EAT you.
