Hey Robert. Have you tried backing into the beach? If the surf is thigh high or higher that's the only way I come in anymore. I got tired of torpedoing the bow into the sand on the larger breakers. Anyway, enjoyed the video and wouldn't mind it having been longer.
@robertfield51667 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've done that before. We call that doing the "Paris Hilton." Not sure why it got that name lol. I prefer the fun of coming in normally. This was the first time I had fallen out in two years. Notice that I chose to bail rather than try to hang on and risk flipping the kayak. Digging the bow into the sand only happens in longer kayaks, that's why I normally run a 12' Outback. 14' or longer boats run that risk in Texas with the sand bars. Attaching a drift sock to your back handle is another great way to come into the surf easier.

Been watching those Aussie yakkas on those ProFishas. They look fast and wet. Made for the big water. The stuff we turn around and go home in is their normal days out. Glad to see you out in the salt.
@robertfield51667 жыл бұрын
Yeah man those Australians and New Zealand guys put these boats on the map, they handle that big water perfectly.

Sweet video. That Reload takes good care of you in the surf. Your a crazy man for surfing that big one with all your rods out. Got lucky on this one.

Robert what exactly where you rigging for the kingfish bite, you had weight tied to flair jig if some sort and dead bait? also so you use stingers rigs with that set up. thanks again great videos keep em coming Tight lines
@robertfield51667 жыл бұрын
It's a simple two stinger rig: sliding 1 oz egg weight to get it down (started without weight, add weight if they're running deeper), 81# Spro swivel, 61# malin wire, J hook, two treble stingers, fresh dead ribbonfish.
@Thebunholio3 жыл бұрын
You can also use rapala trolling lures, kingfish candy

are those the truth/seigler reels? It looks like the blue one is an LG. I have read that the LG is over kill on the kayak. I'm trying to get a pair out of the LG, LGN, and SG. Got any recommendations?
@YakFishField7 жыл бұрын
I have an LG and an SG. They're both killer. I caught my sailfish on the SG, so it can handle just about anything on a kayak. The LG is nice for strong fish you want to get out of structure, like amberjack or cubera snapper. It's also good if you ever want to try for a marlin, but for most applications, the SG is just fine.
@dson0517 жыл бұрын
What do you think about the new LGN. Apparently its similar line capacity to the SG but all the gears of the LG. Which would you recommend between the too. o fish similar salt waters you do and planning to go to panama or that region in the future.

How do you like the vikings
@fishingsouthwestflorida15868 жыл бұрын
how far are the rigs?
@robertfield51667 жыл бұрын
The closest one on the TX coast is 1.8 miles, then there are options as far out as you want to go. I've been as far as 7 miles out. This cluster of rigs started at about 2.8.
