I don't understand either. Because I'm good enough, and I'm smart enough, and darnit - people like me! Lol - just kiddin'. I seriously don't care much about viewership or monetizing my channel. And I fully understand that people are mostly on KZbin to be entertained - and I don't blame them one bit. Thanks for the kind words, though!

Good deal. I want all the new people to be safe out there. Water is no joke, and getting in trouble on water is way more serious than getting in trouble on land. On land, all you gotta do is just stay still, and your chances of rescue are very good - not so with water.

Honeybadger VooDoo Outdoors you’re absolutely right. It’s pretty overwhelming when you’re a beginner to get this kind of information. So thanks again for the insight

@@MrLuiswalker I hear you. In So Cal, the conditions are generally mild, and there is lots of boat traffic in case you get in trouble. If I were to summarize in one sentence, I'd say, "Try not to paddle alone, pick a day with swells 3' or less, wind 10mph or less, and go in a direction where you'll have a tailwind on the way home." If you follow those guidelines, you should be okay.

Thank you for this detailed guide! I’ve been watching your videos mostly for kayaking in offshore safety aspects, not for fishing. I kayak with my dog, but so far in protected bay such as Long Beach/HB. Do you have any inputs with kayaking with dogs in open water in RB/Palos Verdes/Laguna? Of course only during low tide and low to no wind conditions. Thank you again!
@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors73053 жыл бұрын
hi, i think fishing with a dog is super-cool. the best fishery around LA is Redondo Beach (launching from King Harbor) - it has the most variety. i don't worry a lot about tide timing. if you're out there long enough, you'll see high/low anyway. i think high/low tide matters much more if you are launching from the beach, but King Harbor is protected from the surf. i'd focus on a day when wind is peaking at 10mph or less, and swells are 3' and under with big intervals 10+ seconds. at Redondo, the wind typically blows out of the South or SouthWest, so i'd head in that direction after launching, so that you'll have the wind at your back when paddling back in. i'd imagine a lot would depend on how calm/panicky your dog is.

I always wonder if the fish on the bottom of the tide graph are true because they are generally always on the outgoing on that app? At least when I look. Great video lots to learn.

Hi, I'll be honest with you. That stuff is like black magic to me. I won't pretend to understand all of it. But I do try to have line in the water when I see the fish on the graph.

What type of kayak do you recommend? I'm looking into fishing saltwater off a kayak any help would be great thanks. New sub

If your aim is to do a lot of fishing, it almost has to be a pedal driven kayak. The biggest challenge for newbie kayakers isn't getting to the spot. If you're in good shape, you can do that with a paddle kayak. The real challenge is *staying* on a spot. Having a pedal driven kayak means you can make positional adjustments with your feet, and have your hands free to fish. I ride an older Hobie Outback, and there is a reason they are the most popular platform for fisherman - they are the SUV of fishing kayaks. Not the fastest kayak, but it's roomy and stable.
