Awesome video...something about the audio of the trout splashing when they get near your kayak is very relaxing.

Non-fishing related question. Where'd you get your hat in this video? It looks like the Cascadia flag with a fish silhouette replacing the white stripe. Really cool!

Loved your video! Great job! Very INFORMATIVE and RELAXING! I'm a newby beach fly fisherman here in southwest Florida, Fort Myers/Sanibel. I'm thinking about getting a peddle kayak to fish the bays, mangroves, rivers, and near the beach on the gulf. Looking at the Old Town Sportsman Salty PDL 12O, Old Town Sportsman PDL 12O, and the Old Town Sportsman Big Water PDL 132. Also, I'm 71 and relatively fit, but have some concerns about getting up from the seat to stand and cast. Can you offer any advice? THANK YOU!

Thank you for the video and set-up instructions. I am looking forward to fly fishing from my kayak. Question: How much backing and what brand would you recommend for the set-up?
@jwcanepa4 жыл бұрын
Found the link to the backing in your notes.

Backing material is all the same Dacron material any brand will suffice

Does the seat bar hit your lower back like other people have complained about?

Yes. I wrapped pipe insulation on there and it helped. However, its my least favorite aspect of the kayak.

Hello sir how you doing. This was a good video I'd enjoy watching it. I have a couple question. I have a paddle kayak and I am looking for a pedal drive kayak. It looks like those pedals on the kayak are wide and is it comfortable to pedal barefooted 👣. My reason for asking is I have very very wide feet sz14 4 EEEE WITH fat wide toe and a foot brace on my kayak is too small for my feet and they keep falling off the foot brace. #2 the sandals that you are wearing do you know the name of the sandals you are wearing. I would like to see if they make those sandals for wide feet. It look like you have wide feet but I can tell. I have to kayak barefoot 👣 because they don't make shoes wide enough for my wide feet. I have a pair of flip-flops which I can barely get them to fit my feet because my feet are wider than the straps. I have to take my fingers pull the straps wide enough so I can slide my foot into the Flip flops. It's the only Footwear that I can wear. I have not been able to find a pair of shoes to wear in 30 years so I'm looking for a second pair of sandals to wear. It sucks for me I even went to Big and Tall thinking they would have my size and all they said was my feet is too wide and they don't make shoes that wide. They were shocked and couldn't believe how wide my feet were.I really appreciate if you can help me out sir. You and your family have a nice memorial weekend and be safe.

The nice thing about Old Town PDL drive is you can replace the pedal with any aftermarket pedal for bicycles so if you find it hard to keep your foot on the stock pedals you could always order and install your own. The sandalsI wear are Chacos. You might try contacting them about sizing as I'm not sure what sizes they produce.
@mackjenkins77214 жыл бұрын
Spilt Milt Productions oh okay so those pedals can be replaced. I think the Old Town PDL is what I'm going to purchase. Cuz I need the pedals with no straps and can be replace if not wide enough. The sandals are Chacos okay. I will go on their website and check and see if they have them for wide feet. I don't know if it's my foot being wide or because I have very wide fat toes but it is very hard for me to find Footwear even for sandals. Thank you so much sir for the information you provided. Keep up the good work you have a great Channel. Looking forward to your next Kayak Adventure.

Hey man! just started fly fishing but have been kayak fishing spin gear for years. Mostly looking at lake fishing obviously. what would you recommend for a good sink rate line for streamers in lakes? I'm in a paddle Viking Kayak so it will mostly be casting. thank you!
@spiltmilt4 жыл бұрын
I typically fly fish the shoulder seasons here (spring & fall) so a type III sink tip line is what I use for throwing streamers. In the summer a type V would be better but our waters get so warm here I tend to leave the trout be in most lakes until they start to cool.

Unrelated to the fishing, since obviously you have fantastic fisheries close to where you live...but I’m considering a move to the pacific NW. Any recommendations on areas to look at? I’m sure you don’t want your specifics out in internet-landia...but can you give a general region where you are? You’ve already sold me on the Predator PDL, btw. Seems like a great fishing platform. Wish there was a way to help you out when I buy mine. Thanks for everything! Love your content! Hopefully one day we can meet on the water. Cheers.

Thanks for the grest content. Im looking at a pedal kayak i cant decide on the pdl 132 or the salty pdl. Which do you prefer i fish ocean and lake only can go 1 month. I see the pdl 132 for 2600 on sale and salty around 2300 with shipping overall whats be best investment
@spiltmilt2 жыл бұрын
I prefer the Salty over the 132 for a couple reasons. 1.) It's lighter and easier to transport 2.) It's faster 3.) You sit lower to the water and thus are more stable and it's easier to net fish. 4.) As you pointed out its more affordable.
