Oh man.. Hearing someone cut cardstock just gave me massive nostalgia I used to have one of those paper kits, you build it and it made a dragon, with some gears and a hand crank at the bottom.. And the dragon would rear up and flap It's wings

..Great project... 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼💙💙💙 ..What about adding a medium sized lightweight 5 blade aluminium fan at the end of the wire crank & fix the base on the roof/terrace with screws. .so that on a windy day the fan rotates the crank & the beautiful mechanical kinetic sculpture model gets animated on its own ?...You can even a small & a big gear wheels to slow down the movements......Imagine making a big one [ 5ft long each wing ] going with the same design. .& looking at it from a good distance sitting on your terrace. .flapping it's wings in slow-mo when you're on the way back towards your home in the twilight... . 🙂

Wait if some people think it is the juvenile of an unknown species, wouldn't that just mean the unknown species is Nemicolopterus and the only fossil we have is of a juvenile
@areallyshortbrontothere Жыл бұрын
Oh ya...
@areallyshortbrontothere Жыл бұрын
I cannot argue with that logic
@mozarteanchaos Жыл бұрын
yeah, possibly. unless it turns out to be a juvenile sinopterus or something, it'd still be a valid taxon, just one where the adult form isn't known. this sort of thing happens a lot
@jantepas751111 ай бұрын
What a nice idea and great execution. Thanks for sharing your tricks and template.
@AzraelThanatos Жыл бұрын
While you might have to do it at the same time as the bending, one thing that might work as a cooler looking option than the clips and cardstock wraps is some neat looking beads that have a large enough hole to fit the rods through

This is so cool! I'm so happy to see some automata with easy-to-use tools. I made an embroidered one a couple of months back and have so many more ideas I've wanted to execute but thought my make-shift materials would look messy and unprofessional. Feeling so inspired now!

This video was very helpful! Exactly what I needed! Thx a lot! Also, I experimented with different flying creatures to put on the mechanism, leaving me with a pterosaur, a dragon, and tons of different bird species all sharing the same type of mechanism to make them "fly"
