Great detailed video. Would you say the drive is adjustable to accommodate a 5 foot tall woman? This seems to be the most adjustable drive system, but still wouldn't be sure if it would fit someone that short. Thanks!

Great Video! I love my vibe uptown 100. I do prefer the fin even with the drive. For me the instant reverse is essential for fishing and the gear tracks are very nice. Definitely beats the hobie itek 9

@@harold0723 The drive is honestly the best part in my opinion. It has held up great. The rudder seems cheap. I had to replace a set screw and it just doesnt feel crisp. Gets the job done though. Still use a hand paddle when I need to do a 360. Overall I like the boat, but you definitely get what you pay for. Overall feels cheap. I do like the gear tracks though.

This inflatable would be great for my local river own from my normal launch. Only way to get to that launch is to walk in.

Yeah definitely going to explore some SWFL fishing holes with long portages. Found one portage trail that gets me into Charlotte Harbor sea grass where some giants are. Normally would need power boat to get there, but found short cut through public land.

Last iCAST they had conjoined booth so sometime shortly before that. Riot is owned by Kayak Distribution which is HUGE. Technically Kayak Distribution bought Vibe. I will say I love their Impulse pedal drive. I always have. Glad to see Vibe using it.

How do you feel these compare to the Bote Rover Aero? (I know, "kayak" versus "skiff", but still..)

Same build quality, but totally different purposes. For Rover you need to budget for a motor. Also Rover is pretty heavy because it has that huge metal bracket. I wouldn’t want to paddle Rover Aero very far. These Vibe inflatables are just easy and totally capable. In many respects they are more comfortable to fish from than my large Hobie. They made it for a while, but it seemed they didn’t make a rudder system. So it is like they gave up. I haven’t seen one in years. Lightning Kayaks just released the Air9 so I’m getting one for testing. Also plan to get a GoBoat as well. 2024 is the year of the inflatables in my opinion. So many companies are producing now. I for one like more inflatable options.

The only thing that scared me is the way the rudder cable snaps into the rudder system. If one of the rudder cable housings snap. Ouch. No rudder.

I will say the nylon rudder cable guides had very positive snap in design and seemed durable. Although I could understand the concern. So far zero issues with it failing.

I wish they had used a hobie fin style drive.

I believe they have a Hobie fin option. Could be wrong, but I believe they have a different plug insert for fin style drive. I personally prefer the propeller drive since I can instant reverse when fighting fish. I fought a shark for 2hrs and I think it would have been much harder with fin drive that lacks reverse. Unless you are going to pay big bucks for Hobie 180 drive to go inside I would recommend the propeller drive. It is a great drive and insanely durable. I’ve never had a riot impulse drive system fail on me. Just my 2 cents. I could have some bias since the units were provided to me for free, but I try to think critically and like consumer. I now co-own AutoBoat motor company so that has helped me be less financially influenced to push one brand over other. I really try to tell it like I see it. I try to think “would I buy it or do I see a market for it”.

The latest tech is heat welded seams or all weld seams. That is the best inflatable construction method. Some of the new boats on my social media have them. I posted a huge promo code list on facebook page for viewers. It covers a lot of brands.

Actually very comfortable and don’t even have to think much about it. Fought shark for 2hrs on it. Easiest shark fight I’ve had on a kayak was from this inflatable….it easily followed the shark. My Hobie PA12 kept getting caught sideways with shark and put me at risk of flipping.

Riot was the worst pedal kayak I have ever owned. I would not trust the quality of this inflatable.

Big difference between Riot rotomolded kayaks and Vibe quality. Also big difference between inflatables and rotomolded. I like the Riot Pedal drive. I never had one break. It has only around 5 moving parts and just works for me. The design of this Vibe kayak is pretty dang reliable looking. I don’t see any major concerns or cheap feeling parts. The main pedal drive pod is solid and has no failure points…just a hole and track. The brush splash guard was genius. Idk… can understand Riot plastic pedal kayaks not stacking up to other popular USA brands. Riot’s thinner plastic made kayaks lighter, but felt cheaper. Never had them break, but quality felt less. Vibe has always been good in my book and has high perceived quality. I don’t even look at this Vibe Uptown and see or think of Riot. The Riot Pedal Kayak I liked was mako 12. The Mako 10 first gen wasn’t great and was stern heavy (unbalanced). All brands of inflatables are pretty much equal in durability….especially dropstiched adhesive seam inflatables. Vibe just has nice styling, unique pedal system, and nice chair. The next step up for durability are heat welded seam dropstich inflatables. The weakness of adhesive droptich inflatables (Vibe/Bote/Etc) is if you keep fully inflated in hot sun on land they can blow a seam. If you avoid that they last forever. Love my inflatables and I have several. Even have inflatables Bote chairs that are Dropstich like this Vibe Kayak.
