Kayaking Nærøyfjord 2022

Looks beautiful. We are planning to take the trip in canoe next summer. Would you say it is doable in a canoe? The waters seem pretty calm.

@@AndersHyltoft1 Well.. it depends from the weather and it can change very quickly in norway. Don't let this "calm" shots to underestimate potential risk. In fact we made this mistake indeed, at the beginning water was very calm and we felt very safe, few hours later strong wind came from nowhere and suddenly we had to fight with strong current and significant waves - we decided to turn back and go to the coast as fast as possible, (and nearest land was approximately 2km away), you have to be careful in fjords because in some places there is no way of leaving the water for many miles, even if fjord is narrow you are often surrounded by vertical, sharp rocks. Fortunetaly our double kayaks were very stable, but in case of the capsize we would be in very big trouble - water there has just few degrees above 0. So to sum up - definitely it is doable in good weather, but be always up to date with latest forecast, and always have in mind where is the closest place where you can leave water in case of the emergency.
