Thanks for sharing your trip. On a day i cant go out this is second best 😊

A suggestion I didn't see in your vid. If you get turned when going through some fast water bottlenecks (rapids??), you can drag a paddle to correct bow direction instead of trying to paddle it straight. It's much easier to quickly get straight.

Diggin the ratchet strap foot brace idea!!!

PFDs work better if you wear them. But hey at least the dogs know better. If someone is knocked out by an overhanging branch or paddle or rock they are dead and drowned before you can swim to them.

Did you have a skeg installed for this float?
@dalepollett2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Bert, I've enjoyed your channel. No, I did not use a skeg on this paddle. This river can have a lot of shallow spots (not so much on this trip) and so we don't use the skeg here. Usually only on lakes.

Well that was fun ... thanks for sharing Do you drive two vehicles and park one at the exit point?
@dalepollett2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we did for this trip. It's less than an hour drive from our house.

I’m having a hard time deciding between this and the 380x
@dalepollett3 ай бұрын
The 380x is longer, of course, but this shorter 300x suits me well and I am 6'2". Thanks for watching.

Looks like you may have bought the carbon package? I just received my Explorer 420x , I love the boat itself although there were some cosmetic issues , maybe from shipping i dont know ... My biggest issue it the carbon paddles give splinters , Reached out to sea eagle and haven't heard back , but they are pretty much unusable . Your paddle looks like solid carbon and mine are more of a wrapped carbon so maybe i got a newer cheaper chinese version ...

Yes, I bought the carbon package. My daughter did, too. Our paddles are both very good with no issues. Reach out to Sea Eagle and they may replace your paddles if they are defective.

did you use the skegs on this run?
@dalepollett3 ай бұрын
No< I did not, since there are sections that can be quite shallow. Thanks for watching.

Did both you and your partner not have skegs installed on this trip? They seem to track pretty well without it if that's the case. Also, how do those boats handle going over or occasionally into the well worn rock/bolder ? What paddle length works for you as well?? Thanks
@dalepollett Жыл бұрын
Correct, we did not use skegs on this trip. We usually only use them on lake paddling. They track quite well with balanced paddling. No problem sliding over smooth rocks. The inflated drop stitch floor helps. I'm not exactly sure of the paddle length. We ordered the Pro Carbon package that has the lightweight paddles. Probably 8'.

And what do you find to be the biggest improvements over the 330?
@dalepollett2 жыл бұрын
The Explorer 300X is a much more rigid kayak than the SE330 Sport kayak. The material is also much more durable, which is a plus for taking our dogs in the kayaks. I find the Explorer 300X to be much more stable on the water and more maneuverable as well. I inflate the side tubes to the recommended 3.2 psi and the floor to 6 psi (the floor can inflate up to 10 psi) using Sea Eagle's BP12 Single Stage Electric Pump. I am also able to use leg straps for more control in white water kayaking. The 300X is much more versatile for a range of still water and white-water kayaking.

@@dalepollett I saw the leg strap that you have set up. Did that come with the 300x, or an add-on that you purchased?
