Would love to hear your guys thoughts on Druillets The Night or some Lone Salone and other french artists like Paul Gillon, Enki Bilal, Jean-Claude Mézières...

Love how you guys filmed this with a colored background instead of the usual black and white.

3:15 saw an interview with Moebius once where he mentions that he works completely in silence. So, it would seem Ed is exactly right here
@neondharma2 жыл бұрын
can you link the interview? because Jodorowsky contradicts this statement in the Dune documentary saying Gerard drew feverishly as Jodorowsky spat out his ideas for story, concepts, and suggestions over his shoulder while working
@sahaihescobedo12132 жыл бұрын
@@neondharma Gee, I could try to find it but that was years ago I watched it. Specifically, he says that when he first started his career he would put on records when he drew. He noticed that the music was influencing his drawings. He says that now (this interview must have been sometime in the 80s if I recall correctly) he draws completely in silence. I think what you mentioned with Jodorowsky here still tracks though because they were just roughing in storyboards together, which is a totally different process than rendering comic book art or illustrations. It's more about getting the rough idea committed to paper. Besides, Moebius was a man of many talents and I am sure he worked well in varied conditions, even if silence was his preferred method when working on more focused drawings.

in the future artists and storytellers will study Moebius like today we study Durer or Bosch
@withthesetwohands2 жыл бұрын
Totally, though I'd argue that some creators already study Moebius in that fashion! Giroud's influence can be seen in a lot of stellar work being put out around the world by other creators (and not just in the comic medium; there are video games, movies, and other visual mediums just filled with Moebius' influence).

Again a great Moebius video. Moebius/ Jean Giraud was a master. I have this black and white edition in dutch and it's great to see his line work. I have some oversized black and white Blueberry books and it's wonderfull to see the difference in inking. Would love to see you compare his Jean Giraud work with his Moebius work sometime

I bought this from my lcs a couple months ago. It took me forever to read because every page turn would paralyze me in astonishment for minutes. Well worth the price tag.

The 3 Epic books collect the complete original 6 album Moebius/Jodorowsky series, they each collect 2 of the original French Albums.

Love this book. Consider giving the Humanoids color versions another look, they've been using a restored version of the original French coloring for the last 10+ years of printings and it looks amazing. If you can get your hands on the 6 volume 12" x 16" printings, they are a sight to behold.

the original colours are great. I would usually buy black and white but I have the last oversized limited edition box and it's incredible. Tempted by this too still... urgh
