My experience has shown me that when you're underweight, you're almost always hungry and binge a lot. But when I gained enough weight, It became difficult to overeat. So don't be afraid, nature knows better.

I stopped stepping on a scale when I truly decided to recover, so I don't know how much I gained nor how much I weigh now. I'd estimate that I gained 40-50 pounds, and I was barely "underweight" at the start of my recovery. But you don't need to have been emaciated and on a feeding tube to do damage to yourself. You don't need to be "thin enough" to "deserve" recovery. It took me about 5-6 months before I reached my heaviest, and I stayed exactly there for a good six months+. It took 12-16 months for my body to *slowly* release to a noticeable difference (seriously, I mean SLOWLY) . Was I embarrassed in a new body? Absolutely, I won't lie. But it was so worth it. I'd say now, after a total of almost 3 years of recovery, I'm back around my set point - but it's a new one, an adult body instead of a pubescent one. I'll never have my "pre-ED body back" again because I hadn't finished puberty before I interrupted my growth and sent myself into 3 years of ED hell. But that's okay. Where I am now is beautiful, and to anyone who ends up reading this, wherever your body is right now, it is beautiful and worthy of your love.

This is actually really helpful. I have been in recovery for a year after developing my ED 4 years ago at the age of 12. So far I have been scared to fully commit to my recovery because I am really scared of weight gain and what my family will think since my mom‘s really judgmental. Yesterday I made the decision to really commit- I hope I will have the strength to stick through recovery! You‘re comment gives me hope so thank you!!!

I’ve just begun recovery at age 30. Over the last 8 months or so I had gained 15-20 lbs, fixated on food, binging on sweets on weekends, and just sick of the dieting crap, feeling miserable, and not seeing results. Now that I’m all in, I know I’ve gained weight - and what sucks is now almost all of my pants don’t fit, and my partner does not aupport this and thinks I will eat myself into super obesity. I never got super slim, never lost my period. Did however suffer mental problems, anxiety, and dare I say injury. I’m starting at what I believe is an overshot weight. Hopefully I don’t shoot up more but if I do…then I guess I do. Honestly I’m just enjoying eating so much that I’m willing to let go of any strain about my set point weight - just enjoying the journey

Even if I've never struggled with food and weight to the extreme and only ever worked out because it feels great both in the moment and the days after, I really find these kinds of videos helpful to stop me before I become too excited about my "fitness journey". I've always been really cautious and mindful not to go too extreme, thanks to people on the internet sharing how much work it takes to "recover" (or never really getting completely rid of the extreme mindset). I think I'm going to take a brake from watching health related KZbin-videos, tracking and weighing now (after 2 months and now hitting a plateau), and focus more on mindfulness again. Thank you for the inspiration! ❤

Hi Kristen :) I’m glad it helped! And absolutely! I hear this SO MUCH! And been wanting to do a video dedicated to this... people think becuase the period returns they shouldn’t still face either 1. Extreme hunger anymore or 2. Weight gain anymore - and worse, that they don’t “deserve” it anymore! ... when most often people experience both thereafter the period returning, as it’s quite common! I myself experienced this too!

I do feel like this is becoming the newest diet fad for a lot of us on KZbin. It might be because a lot of us ladies would want to effortlessly look fit, beautiful and at peace with ourselves like you do. Gain and lose 50lbs by eating freely! I am seven months into it and even my “fat clothes” I had to buy are too tight now and I am still gaining weight (S-M-L and now XL). I am quite discouraged but I will see it through. I am holding on to your promises Kayla!. It sure is fun to eat freely but “what if she is wrong or misleading” crosses my mind quite often these days. Gosh I hope this whole thing is legitimate 🙏🏼🥰
@franscine1232

The process is different for everyone due to factors such as how long you've been restricting, to what extent, your own genetics and mindset, to name a few. Also, the point of this is not to lose weight but to restore a healthy relationship with food and oneself. Wanting the end goal to be your losing the weight you gained will only hinder your journey. And in one of her older videos, Kayla shared that she lost the overshoot weight gradually over the course of a couple years. Trust the process. I naturally don't overeat now because my body's normal hunger-satiety cues have returned, and I haven't gained much weight since I've stopped dieting. Probably 5-10 lbs. But I also quit exercising (intense exercise. I still walked a mile a few days a week and did yoga) to regain my period. That probably sped up the process. Good luck, my friend!

Different factors contribute. Some may have thyroid issues. Or they may have emotional issues that lead to overeating as a way to numb the pain.
@korarehfeldt3083
@korarehfeldt3083 4 жыл бұрын
From what I learned from Dr. Jason Fungs book "The Obesity Code" obesity is a problem of insulin resistance. This of course can be a consequence of emotional eating but can as well be what forms after years of bad eating habits, which means processed und sugary foods which raise insulin a lot. This in combination with eating many times throughout the day leads to permanent, high levels of insulin and that to insulin resistance. Insulin again is the hormone which tells the body to store energy, at some point as fat, which leads to fat gain and over time to obesity. This is a way of changing your bodys set point in the higher weight direction. So it's actually possible to do this, of course also in the other direction.

personally, for me, it was 1. stress and anxiety and v little movement bc i was a sad self conscious teenager 2. restricting in response to my natural comfort eating and to natural weight gain when i stopped looking like a 12 year old lmao. my weight creeped up the more restrictive i got and the more i hated my body. before the dieting when i started to feel pressure to lose it i was hardly overweight. had i left myself alone i probably would have never gotten to the weight i did (not that my weight was “bad” or whatever but i’m just saying i probably would have stayed where i was). started scrutinizing my eating starting age 14. emotionally it takes a toll and only added to my stress. i’m a year and some into not dieting anymore and eating whatever i want and all my bloating is gone, my stomach is no longer inflated and uncomfortable, and my emotional regulation is way better. head not as anxious and so much more room for other thoughts bc i don’t think about what i have to eat. body has started letting go of the weight. prediabetes started getting demonstrably better the minute i stopped dieting. i doubt i even have it anymore it certainly doesn’t feel like i do my energy levels are actually normal nowadays

There are 'overweught' people Becuase if body diversity. Some people are just naturally bugger than others. They're born that way. Some people's set points are higher than others...Just like everyone isn't born with the body of a super model. Body weight falls in a bell shaped curve woth most people falling around a bmi 27 or so...but there are a minority of people who are bigger and a minority of people who are smaller. In fact, there are more people at the larger end than at the smaller end - bodies seem to be able to survive easier with more weight than with less. All are natural, all are healthy. And increase in weight, into 'obesity' from a 'regular' weight is usually caused by a medical issue and is likely a protective mechanism as people in bigger bodies tend to survive longer, when I'll, than people in smaller bodies. It's called the obesity paradox. Also, dieting and intentional weightloss, as we know, over time and with repeted attempts (yo-yo dieting) pushes your weight up. If you're frequently under esting because society tells you your body is broken and needs fixing, then you'll constantly fall into the binge/restrict cycle and, as your body tries desperately to gain control, you metabolism will lower over and over and you'll get larger. Hope that helps x

Trust me, when you're refed, the thought of eating when you're not hungry isn't appealing. The idea that people just eat and eat and eat themselves into obesity is a myth.

Kayla, I wish KZbin and you have been already there when I was younger. But thank you very much nevertheless. This is kind of my second All In- Journey. I actually remembered that I have done it in the past but over a longer period of 5 years. I had Anorexia as a teenager. I started restricting as a 14 years old because I have gained 10 kg and my mother body shamed me. As I started college I got to a new country and gained 16kg and got Bulimia. In the first year I wasn´t restricting. I got a lot of stress and couldn´t hold any groceries at home. I ate them all at once. I didn´t think that this would end. Then after that every summer over the next 3-4 years my mother send me to 1 month fruit fast. I lost every time about 10kg and then gained them back till I decided that I don´t want to do it anymore then I got to my set point weight and lost 6kg in a period of 2 years and almost no exercise. In the time I had a boyfriend. I was then happy to hold my weight but started gaining weight as I was single again. Then the journey went on. I got a new boyfriend I lost weight and hold it. Then we separated after 4-5 years and as a single I started gaining weight. And now it makes a lot of sense that out weight is not fixed but changing and this was difficult for me to endure. Then last December I saw a picture of mine and I was bit terrified and started with IF. Lost 10 kg over 3,5 months and then Corona came and my motivation was over. I was kind of fed up. I lost my first horse. And gained the weight again over the next months. I know that it is the same body and what lies under the fat and the water because it is a lot of water what I´ve gained. And I have the feeling that we are so critical and not patient with ourselves that we don´t give us the time to adjust. To eat more because it is a difficult time and our body needs more nutrition and peace and instead of it we are, I am unhappy with how I look and stress myself more and make it much harder for my body to cope with the situation. What I´ve learned from this journey is that we need better nutrition when we are in stress. We need to take better care of our body and not to be only for the looks. Our health is more important then everything else. And actually after first going All In and stopping dieting I got rid of my eating disorders. I forbade myself to purge and told myself every fucking day that I had to eat breakfast regardless of whether I have binged the day before. I hope that my journey this time won´t take so long but if it does it is a healing process that should take place and it will be great when more and more women will heal because this is a problem so many women have. This is madness.

my own experience has shown me that even if you started the whole restricting thing young(I developed an ed at 14 and even before that was told by school nurses that I'm a little underweight so I really had no pointers) that your body really does know and your weight still plateaus at a certain point, when I look back on how my body has changed in size it just makes so much sense even the overshoot and where that plateaued and now I can even see the parallels between my weight gain and other family members'. It's crazy honestly, please trust your body

finally something that makes sense, i swear it wasn't until after searching for months that i found this video to be so helpful and reassuring. when i finally decided to recover i was already in the overweight category (close to obese) and stayed around there, sometimes dipping into normal weight range throughout my entire history of disordered eating and dieting ever since i about 12 and i'm 21 now. my main struggle with beginning recovery a year ago was not having normal hunger cues as i struggled to feel hungry and eat when i should and loss of interest/indecision towards food. i recently started trying to eat at regular intervals but it's been difficult to remember to eat as i can get busy and forget to not rely on my own hunger cues to let me know when to eat. which i think has made it more hard for my body to realize that i'm starving it and that it was fine but i guess i was still starving it, though unintentionally. hopefully i can keep to schedule and regain my hunger signals and continue my recovery well. thank you for this, seriously

People's bone/frame size is a big reason why two people at the same height have different set points. I have itty bitty bones but I have a friend whose wrist bones are inches bigger than mine. She also naturally has a lot more muscle mass without exercise. She's just meant to be a heavier person. I think set point changes with age too. Many menopausal women can attest to that.

To be honest, This is so hard for me to as someone who has been in recovery for three years. I gained 45-50lbs in that first year, and I have never lost any of it. I never had the redistribution, I didn’t naturally lose anything, so it’s discouraging to hear so many people say they lost weight after recovery, because I have been waiting for my turn (making me feel like the only one who hasn’t lost the access weight). Definitely hard to just allow my body to be here when I’m feeling like this body is “wrong”

Hi Samantha, maybe this will help you or any other person reading this. Even if you are not restricting the calories and have committed fully to this healing process your body may still be in the starvation mode. It's not only about the calories but also the micro and macronutrients our body needs. I am not saying that you should stop eating the foods that you like or calculate the macros or calories. What I try to say is that maybe you should add more raw/plant-based foods that have all the good stuff to fuel our bodies. I had a similar problem after going "all in", my weight was not comfortable for me and the problem was (I assume) in the amount of processed food I ate. This kind of staff is interfering with the natural hunger cues. Also, it gives you calories but not macroingredients that are crucial for proper functioning. Once I started eating primarily whole foods (including a lot of sweet meals which I love, but filled with fruits and protein sources as well) I naturally craved less processed food and lost excessive weight. It does not mean I do not eat chocolate or lays (oven baked ❤️) but I do care about having enough whole foods every day and it made a difference 🙏

Recovery is so frustrating though... Especially when you're in your 30's/40's. When I was younger and lost weight I just went back to my set point after... This time (35 when I dieted... 37 now) I overshot by 40/50/60lbs...assuming I go bacm tk nh previous set point! The mosy frustrating part is the time line. I'm now at 2 years, 4 months and still not started to taper... And I feel like it's still a way off. I gained 80lbs in recovery after only loosing 20! 🤦‍♀️ I think I'm looking at probably 4 years or more before I'm totally recovered.... Assuming it actually happens...

I don’t go all in until I noticed that I was getting thinner hair, dull skin, etc in 20’s. I will say society doesn’t like feminine bodies much. I find that it is now an obsession with strong aka lean muscle. Which is sad because now is the healthiest I have ever felt with better skin and hair now than in my teens and early 20’s.

I know my set weight is around 130 lbs. I was that weight till 25. I got sick and saw a naturopath and she did a blood test on me and found I was allergic to many foods. So I stopped eating dairy and gluten completely and immediately lost 10 lbs. I then decided to just go vegan. So then I was 120 lbs for about 3 years. I started to be more lax with my diet and went back up to 130 lbs at age 30. I went to SE Asia and ate all their food unrestrictingly. But the one thing I did restrict was meat. I didn’t eat meat for 8 years. It was my biggest restriction. So I started eating meat in Jan 2019. I went all in that summer and I went up to 160 lbs. I’ve been all in for one year and have been steadily at 160 lbs. I really feel my set weight is around 130 lbs. Back when I used to eat Ben n Jerry’s every night and bakery 🧁 items for breakfast every morning. I do feel I’m carrying a ton of water weight. My hands and feet always feel swollen. I can’t even wear a single ring let alone my wedding ring that I already had sized bigger. I can’t wear any of my cute boots bc my feet all feet like swollen sausages in them. So is it normal to be at a set weight for one year? I really hope I can go down 20-30 lbs bc I feel SO uncomfortable right now. Oh, and I never exercised in the past or present. I’m now 35. A part of me wonders if I just can’t digest meat or dairy and if I should just go back vegan? I know there’s that girl on KZbin who teaches recovery but she’s vegan. At first I thought that was contradictory. But now I have no idea. 😕

@@caitlinm1874 I feel like I’m doing better. Still at the same weight but I can wear my rings now! Yay :) I’ve been eating unrestrictedly this whole time. So 8 months since I last commented. It will be two years this summer (august) that I went all in. I go on hikes / walks in nature 2-3 times a week. I love that form of exercise. I have very recently decided that I should take a break from dairy though. I just did an experiment and discovered that when I don’t eat dairy in a day I can sleep better at night and my nose doesn’t get stuffed up. Usually when I lay down my sinuses get clogged and one nostril completely closes up. I therefore have to breathe out of my mouth and it causes me to snore. The first day I went without diary I didn’t have that problem at night and slept like a baby. Second night, same thing. Then last night we went out and had tacos and I had just one bite of my husbands fish taco that had yogurt dressing on it and literally, I’m not joking, right then and there my right nostril completely closed up and I couldn’t breathe out of it. I knew that dairy must be the culprit. I did have a food allergy test back in 2010 and said I have an IgE allergy to dairy but I was hoping I healed it. I guess bc I’ve been consuming diary everyday multiple times a day for almost 2 years that I brought my allergy back. Maybe having it once a week would be ok. But I was EXCESSIVE with it no joke. So yeah, I’m really excited to have this break from dairy. I recently heard good things about quitting it and it’s helped people’s swelling go down and water retention. And I do remember the first time I quit back in 2010 I immediately lost 10 lbs. And even though I’m the same weight now I know my body composition has changed and I have more muscle and less fat. I’ve seen IG photos of side by side comparisons of women at the same weight but much skinnier looking than their before photos. It’s very encouraging. I will try and make sure I’m still getting enough calcium daily bc I know how important that is. How is your journey going?

A month ago I started weight training to feel strong, I feel strong but I am still gaining weight. Some days are really hard but I started looking at it differently. What size and shape is my body supposed to be? I guess I’ll find out. It is lovely eating whatever I want and my body needs.

Thanks Kayla for all the insightful content. I appreciate you so much. I’m wondering what your thoughts are on low-intensity movement like yoga and also when it’s safe to transition to start exercising after recovery. I was in “recovery” from anorexia ten years ago but after restoring some weight upto the lower BMI range I was discharged. I spent subsequent years dieting in order to try to control my weight. When I found your videos a year ago I was sick of dieting and tired of running so I stopped and ate everything I craved. BUT I still went to hot yoga regularly. I didn’t let go of that until a few months ago. I’ve been weight-restored and had regular periods for the last four years but still intermittently dieting and exercising regularly. Now I still do a bit of yoga nearly everyday but I try to listen to my body and do restorative or take a day off when I’m tired, but I’m convinced that it improves my relationship with my body and makes me feel positive about my body where I am now. Am I deluded? It’s so hard to know what’s my voice and what’s the old ED voice. I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you do recommend stopping low-intensity movement how do we know when to trust the desire to move again? If you’ve read to the end of this question then thank you for that! I love you, I appreciate you. Thank you x

Thank you so much for this as always kayla. You are the best. I am in recovery right now and some days when my will is weak to keep going I find myself going on Wikipedia and other places for scientific resources on weight loss and stuff and what really gets to me is how calorie restriction is so supported by the scientific community. I feel like there’s less scientific resources on free eating vs. calorie restriction for health, weight loss, etc. it’s like dieting is just generally accepted as a fact! I find myself being slowly convinced that restriction is “backed by science”..... when you were in recovery did you have any other researched-backed resources to rely on at that time?

I’m not that bothered about it except for trying to find clothes that fit and look ok can be a pain when I have more weight around my stomach and it’s a bit uncomfortable. I’m in my forties so am trying to ignore any ‘advice’ that pops up about balancing hormones and keeping the stomach fat away at middle age. Do you have any thoughts on this? @@ErinMRose I'm 53 and dealing with midlife changes that are frustrating. I did have the realization a couple of days ago that there is a reason women tend to gain weight during menopause. Because we are losing estrogen made by the ovaries, etc. the body makes fat cells so that the fat cells can make some estrogen to make up for it. So, the INTELLIGENT body is doing what it can to help itself.

Love this!! I am wondering what your thoughts are on postpartum; I am currently 8 months postpartum with my second baby. Most women face extreme pressure to "get back" to their pre-baby weight after pregnancy because it can seem like the body is holding onto the baby weight forever...but could it be that the body needs that weight for a while to feel safe after pregnancy, and will eventually return to its set weight point if women would be patient enough? Does "just be patient till your body feels safe enough to go back to it's normal range" apply to postpartum too, not just diet recovery? And could it be that the reason some women gain a little more with every pregnancy, and never get back to their set weight point, is because they cave and diet instead of being patient?

Possible trigger warning....Im currently in recovery from my ED. I have always been slim with a BMI towards the lower end of normal. With anorexia my BMI went down to a dangerously low level and the shock of this is what brought me to recovery. The problem is, everyone told me it would be really difficult for me to put on weight, but I weighed myself this morning and have put on over a stone just despite still restricting. I am worried I have messed up my metabolism and now I am scared not to continue to restrict in case my weight keeps going up and up. I have always been slim and don't want to be bigger than i was due to having had an ed. Any tips on how to gain weight more slowly? Or will it eventually plateu out? I know its good I have put on some weight but im really stressed in case it continues to increase at such a rapid rate. There are people on here who seem to be able to eat 3000+ calories a day so i dont understand why im putting it on so much quicker than anyone else

From what i think you first need to give nutrition to your body, if you just started out i doubt you will feel satisfied until you have enough energy to start actually working on it. Then from there the only way you can work on being curious, feeling sayisfied is by working on your mentality, make your mentality a place where it is safe to be satisfied and not stressed about being restriction, and then because your not worried about your food rules you will be able to be curious abput your body and hearing its tiny signals at first about what feels best and when its satisfied

Yup and i only recently started realising this so im still working on it- at first my brain could not function much i always felt foggy and my brain was so disordered, i just ate for a while because my body was so deprived, i couldnt do anything else. But that leads to now i realised i have a lot of beliefs around food and mixed with anxiety and loads of stress but when i work on that i can actually hear my hunger and satisfaction, i always thought this was bull and pepople were just making this up but uts true you can feel satisfaction you just need to work on the underlying causes blocking you from this. In this case for me it was the mix of not having food stability and other stressors in life that lead to me not being in a safe spot to even satisfied. But literally a week ago where i was having a good day blocking out all that stuff and ate a burger, and i was satusfied with it and left some. I cant really describe the feeling but its like u hit a spot and ur done. If ur starting out just eat until yr mind is in a stabel place, then you need to work on your head, which can be really hard, i didnt even notice there was anything for a while! But just be curious. Also i have a coach helping me w this and maybe thats what u need. And maybe not its okay just see what works for u.

I have a problem and maybe some of you also have it. In the last 2 years, my leptin level jumped to 10 times over the norm. And I have a problem with regulating it, lowering it without diet. Every dietitian suggests diets and workouts. But I'm in recovery from disordered eating/thinking. Only for reference: I'm 5'4 (162cm) and 169lbs (77kg) and 2 years ago I was 130lbs. Then I started taking antidepressants, eat more, and then tried to lose weight and then gained it again and more and started to drink too much alcohol every day. I stopped drinking in December. I eat normal 3 meals a day and when I'm hungry, I eat something sweet when I want, normally once a day. Because of the virus, I seat at home like everyone. My weight is going up. And if that would be only the process it would be ok but I'm worried about this leptin level. Does anyone have the same problem and maybe some solution, doctor/dietitian recommendations????

So are you thinking that there is another metabolic process in place that would allow a person to shed excess pounds (return to set point weight) even though they are not eating less calories than they are burning? In other words, isn't there only one biological process that causes weight loss, that is eating less than you are burning? I ask because it seems that you are saying that if a person continues eating to satiety long enough during recovery he or she will shed excess pounds if natural set point warrants that. If a person does not shed excess pounds, isn't it possible that person is eating number of calories needed to maintain weight? Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Aha! Just watched Stephanie Buttermore's All In video and got my answer! There is nothing magical happening metabolically; you are just eating less naturally because your appetite has stabilized. Hence, you are consuming less calories, but not in an intentional way.

I've definitely heard a few people talking about fatty liver as well. So I don't really have the answers you're looking for, but you're definitely not alone in experiencing these things. Our bodies are doing some really complicated things in recovery!

Hallo Kayla, your are so great and I hope so much that you answer. Sorry for not perfect english, I am from germany!!! You speak me out of my soul!!!!! I have anorexia since 20 years and absolutely don´t know what my setpoint is and want so much to start recovery, but I have so much fear, because I was a fat child, because I have eaten a lot of to much and than as a teenager I have become anorexecic. Now I have the fear that my setpoint weight is the weight as I was a child. But my mum has exactly the same history! Now she can eat very very much and everything and is normal slim. With 25 years she didn´t make a recovery after her eating disorder, she just started to eat again after a talk to really good doctor, who unfortunately is not alive anymore! He said to her: "Look at your parents what they all can eat and are normal slim. All in my family are good eaters and normal thin! Does this mean that I have the same genetic and will be in the same weight range like my parents with eating everything, also much sweets etc???? I am very excited to your answer or also from other here!!! I don´t want to live this life longer but I also don´t want to be as a child. Both is horror!!!! Love Sarah

Hi Sarah. Are you under treatment for your disorder? Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutch, aber nur ein bisschen! Ich wohnte in Frankfurt in sommer 2001 und sommer/Herbst 2003. Anyhow, we do tend to stick very closely to our genetics, so if you come from a family of slim people it is very unlikely you will be much larger. I would get my insulin/blood sugar and a full thyroid panel done if I could however, as imbalances in those can cause weight gain that has nothing to do with food and would impede your recovery.

@@lynncrf hallo lynncrf, des i was in a 2 treatments, but in german treatments they allways say Not eat more than 2000 calories a day ....... but my parents eat good Minimum 3000 kcal a das and are thin and like i said max mum was also fat child and now i am so happy to finde american recovery, but i have doubts to eat really so much because of my history. My mum did have nearly 2 years anorexie and in her "recovery " sehe only needed a littlle bit more than she can eat now and is absolutely free and didn' T get this overshoot. So i don't t what is netter real recovery like with huge amounts of food or a little bit more than i can eat later. And i would like to be sure that the setpoint will be in a range like my parents and whole family because of my genetic with eating much food. I hate it so much to be allways hungry and Not allowed to eat. I love so much sweets but this is since i was a child.

@@sarahzimmermann1325 that's not just a German thing. The standard wisdom around the world is that women only need 2000 calories a day. However, that figure is incorrect and was originally created by people recording their food intake in diaries. Social pressures mean that people under-report their intake. Hence we got the 2000 figure. When intake is actually measured by doubly labelled water trials we see that people need circa 2500 calories a day. Honestly, when I looked into it I was kind of surprised too, but looking at what people eat it makes sense. Are you restricting now? edinstitute.org/paper/2015/1/12/homeodynamic-recovery-method-doubly-labeled-water-method-trials-and-temperament-based-treatment?rq=I%20need%20how%20many%20calories

I feel like you straight up called me out LOL (restricting still, but gaining on little and have binges...should just go all in... so terrified of gaining a ton of weight though. Haven't been able to get past that). Was wondering if you had any scientific articles to link about set point and where you got all your info on it from? Would you ever respond to the Unnatural Vegan's video about intuitive eating? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXeld3t9l7emjbs

Your set point is the weight you arrive at when you don't binge, don't overeat, and don't eat mindlessly for at least a year. Let the chips fall where they may. If you're binge eating or eating at night, then obviously there is room for improvement. Once you control for behavior, weight corrects itself. I like your channel, Kayla.

I don’t think you fully understand the purpose of this channel- it’s for anyone recovering from any type of restrictive eating disorder/dieting mentality. The idea of “there’s room for improvement” or implying it’s not okay to eat at night is in itself diet mentality

I agree in the way you put your comment could trigger some people instead you could just say “when eating patterns normalize, is when the body set weight normalizes” and that can mean whatever for anyone because some people tend to eat more at night and others more during day.
