originally done by the Students in 1958, written by William H. "Prez" Tyus, Jr. This is by far, one of my favorite songs of all time. This is live in the studio.

I am a 67 yr. old man and I grew up in Boston, Mass. I have been listening to Gospel and rhythm and blues since I was about 7. Back in the day I was called many names, including "n-lover" for listening to the Students, Wrens, Magnificents, ElDorados, Crows, Nutmegs Robins, Cadillacs etc, etc. The dee jays that I was raised with were Ken Malden, Symphony Sid and Bill Marlowe. Considered some of the best. Whites were not encouraged to listen to "negro music", let alone sing them in public. It was suggested that we listen to Doris Day,Pat Boone, Guy Mitchell, etc,It is so refreshing to hear this young lady sing her heart out. Keep em coming baby. Peace, Richie

richard flamburis Richard I was born in Brooklyn. The Paramount, The Fox, The Albee. The valentines, the turbans,The g-clefs, The Diablo’s, the cadets, the clovers,Stevie wonder, the orioles, the moonglows, The heartbeats, the 4 deuces, etc. So I know what your saying. That was music.😎

richard flamburis Boston was one of the most racist cities that I ever resided in. I am an American (black American) who was born in the Deep South in the early1950s; I attended college in Southern Cal in the early 1970s; then I went to grad school in Boston in the mid 1970s. During my years in Boston, I was chased by a mob of racists (while waiting for a train at Boston U), had a gun pointed at me near Fenway Park, and was assaulted by a group of racist thugs near the JFK Library. When I completed my grad degree in 1977, I left Boston as quickly as I could. Richard, I can fully appreciate your experience in Boston. During that time, the city was fraught with racism. I’ve lived in cities on the West Coast, the Midwest, & in the Deep South. Boston was far & away the most blatantly racist city that I lived in.

Richard guess we're about the same age now, i grew up in northeast jersey, passaic (home of The Shirelles) i was about 8yo when i first started listening to the radio stations at the end of the dial (black stations) thank god i did too, listened to Dr Jive (Tommy Smalls) Georgie Hudson, Jocko Henderson and you get the picture, So as a young boy on saturday mornings remember hearing The Personalities, The Laddins, The Cordovans and all of those you also mentioned. This girls version of "I'm So Young" is very good, this song seems to go on forever so many different versions of it out there and to think the original was done was such a young group from of all places Cincy, Ohio the guy that wrote the song who was just as young as the members of the group The Students, Prez Tyus what an incredible song and he wrote the other great Student songs My Vow To You and Everyday of the Week and of course That's How I Feel, amazing song writer at such a early age.

Kayla, you leave me speechless! When you started singing I just froze and stared in total awe at the screen while you belted out a perfect rendition of a 50's classic, like it was 1958 again. I was just a toddler then, but I relived the fifties with my family at Saturday cruise nights in the early 90's, and you would have been a huge hit! As Bobby stated, you're perfect for this genre, and just what it needs to make a comeback.
