Live Match Fishing - Aire & Calder Canal - Newbridge

Join me on a live match on the Aire and Calder canal at Newbridge, a brilliant stretch of canal. I catch jus short of 20lb of mainly skimmers and bream on the feeder with a few fishing on the pole. A really enjoyable day fishing on the canal, make sure you give your local canal a go

great to see this aire & calder canal again not fished it in last 8 years still full of fish used to be feeder far side first 3 hours but then fish used to move more towards you so pole 13m then whip last half hour for roach and perch , so was intresting to see you using tip long then short then pole great water possibly one of the best canals in UK

Nice, one, Kayleigh. Sometimes worth putting a bomb on and casting 1m up or down stream or further across when things slow a little before changing swims. Might have just backed off a bit. Great video as usual, what, a venue 👍

I always used to find that if you tried sweet corn or bread flake when you were getting bites off skimmers it would sort you out a better stamp size wise. Just an alternative to worm but well worth a try.

Great video! Fishing at a canal is my favorite venue. Is there a lot of ship traffic? Herr in Germany, especially in the area where i live, we have around 6-8 ships an hour going by. To build up a feeding area is really a pain in the a..se^^.

Fishing with dark thatchers on the feeder as it’s got higher fishmeal content generally catch the bigger bream on it

yes but only starting around now until the end of the year as the roach are only just moving in to the main canal

To be honest you will catch anywhere behind the sugar mill ponds pegs 1 - the late 50s are normally good for plenty of bites

Yes 🙂 sometimes ball it but if just putting a few in it’s easier to cup them from a height
