2 thing: -doping tests? When? -Vieira must chose MMA or Grappling, because is getting submited in both and I think is because he cannot focus in both

Mad respect to these two, he showed concern and his opponent accepted it instead of being petty about the loss. Maybe they can rematch in the future.

His BJJ prime was a decade ago. And he still was caught from-to-time, in high level competition. His heel hook loss to Dean Lister is an example.

that starting engagement was ridiculous. just goes to show how awful high level bjj players are at wrestling. i wish i had done wrestling growing up
@AguyR14013 жыл бұрын
The threat of ending up in a submission, or in a disadvantaged top position, is what dictates the stance and hesitancy of standing offence in BJJ. Leg grabs are prone to guillotines. Traditional wrestling posture is prone to snap downs. Level changes bring you closer to your opponent's hips, which threatens you with their guard as you both fall. Foot trips are difficult to master, especially without the gi. High crotches guarantee you being put into a crucifix. Etc. Body tie-ups, like underhooks, whizzers, and bodylocks, are used with fair success, as are neck ties, which the competitors in the video were using. Gordon grappled Downey under submission-only rules, and the latter slapped away the former's advances, while standing upright for the better part of 20 minutes, prior to getting tapped. In the subsequent round, where they grappled under wrestling rules, both competitors' demeanor changed, as both were bent at the hip, and shoving each other without fear of being submitted by the other. The format dictates how the competitors grapple. Not to mention that it took Kaynan less than a minute to set up a back-take against a world class opponent like Rodolfo, while using a wrestler's throw-by from the standing clinch, no less.

@Osprey19943 жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter, part of why a rear naked is dangerous is that even if you block with your chin you can still get submitted just from the pressure and force that can be applied. You can get seriously fucked up if you try to do ride that out.
@oldeenglish643 жыл бұрын
@@Osprey1994 I know. My point was I didnt think it was legal to go across the teeth. I thought you had to get under the chin. Thats what I thought the rule was in EBI.
