I'm glad it was saved by Mayor Isko. That place is beautiful. It makes me sad that the Philippines doesn't have strong environmental and animal rights laws. The country is rich in natural resources but are either wasted or not appreciated. Parks as well as forested areas for recreation are not just beneficial to the natives but also for tourism. The Philippines definitely needs more green spaces in urban places. It's necessary not an amenity. Greeneries promote better mental and physical health. It reduces morbidity and mortality in urban residents. More trees also help with flooding that's why it boggles my mind that trees are easily torn when building structures rather than incorporating them in the design.

it is correct they will remove the car parking in Arroceros. many cities now have too many cars but that is changing. Paris, Oslo, and many other cities around the world are making it so walking and using public transportatin is more important. Manila will follow this way. If you want to drive in Manila with private car it will be more expensive.

used to live under Quezon bridge way back late 80's to early 90's. yes we're informal settlers back then. Terminal pa ng Tritran yung park n ride. and by 1994, former Pres. FV Ramos started to relocate some settlers from Pandacan, Tondo, Lawton to different areas in Bulacan and Cavite. Still vivid, that Balite tree near Quezon bridge (20:50), that same spot, jan tinuruan ng tatay kong magbasa ang kapatid ko. After almost 30 years, it's good to see na nakatayo pa din sya. Maybe one day, we'll see each other again. Sana makilala pa kami ng puno haha. Kung makakapagsalita lang yan eh madami kami mapagkkuwentuhan.

My honest comments about the Arroceros Forest Park. It does not differ from the manicured garden parks of Bonifacio Shrine Park, Plaza Lawton Hidden Garden and Rizal Park. The Arroceros Park is only 2.5 hectares and yet what you will see when it is fully finished is having more than 1/3 of its area is occupied by hardscape finishes. Concrete walkways, wide promenade with trees surrounded by concrete pavers. It is alright to put ornamental plants, groundcovers near stuctures like toilets, electrical room etc. It is better if they planted wild groundcovers, wild ferns , vines, wild palms and shrubs near the trees, must have footpath or foot trail near trees using gravel mulch. Allow the soil/ ground near the trees to become mossy. The purpose is to make the areas look like a real forest.The elevated walkway should use a bamboo or wood like railings to blend the nature of being in forest.. Special added attraction is to constuct a wide waterfalls beside the Quezon bridge approach and pylon using all natural stones. Fountains turned me off. The forest park will really look like a manicured garden. Instead of fountains, a two and a half meters man made river canal connected from the waterfalls and flows to the center of the park to a holding tank that looks like a mini lake (300 sq m).The water will be siphon back to waterfalls. But it is not too late as there will always be improvements in the future. Another suggestion for Isko or to the next mayor of Manila.always have a design competition for any projects from building to site developments. Use or incorporate the top three winning entries into one design. In there you will have a well planned project involving more designers.

I remember this used to be the old location ( back in the 80’s)of the Department of Education before it was moved to UP Diliman on the 90’s my lovely Aunt used to work in the DEPED in the Higher Education till she retired , and passed away during COVID19 😤. So sad sad she wasn’t able to come here in the US due to the Worlwide Travel Pandemic Ban.
