Kia Sportage front speaker upgrade step by step

Have you been thinking of upgrading the original Kia speakers with better ones. It can be a tricky task when there is not much information around. I hope this video will help you on this mission. You don´t need to break old speakers. The car is Kia Sportage 2014 but many Kias,Hyundais and cars in general share more or less same sort of door structure.

I'm doing the replacement now n you can use the stock mounts if you cut out the stock speakers, it works great and is actually easy. I was cutting wood when my buddy figured it out.

Foam will absorb sound. You would want a hard surface to direct it.

You might get some self-stick velcro for the crossover. I've found some 4 inch wide that'll hold more than 50 lbs - definitely hold a crossover in the door frame.

Those are great! I found a spot that holds crossover perfectly on the place. No rattling or flying around.

Very good.. very comprehensive too. I am curious why didn't you find a place for the crossover inside the car below the dashboard. Mouting the crossover with into the door only attached with a tape will make fall after a while and make it rattle.

There is a perfect size slot inside a door,tape is just to secure it. :)

Is there a reason you powered the crossover from the tweeter and not the subwoofer wire???

Hi, it is not possible to separate the original speaker and spacer because they are one cast part. If you want to use original spacer, speaker must be cut away - permanent damage.

I'm going to replace only the subs. Did you happen to notice if the oem subs have an inline passive crossover before the final connection? Or are they fed low pass through the connection to the oem tweeters? Thanks! Great video by the way!

Same speaker #s on 2017 Sante Fe. Only difference is plug on 6 1/2 speakers {your has 4 wires, I have 2}. Should I wire the same off tweeters or of bottom wires to crossover input? Or both ? I would like to know what speaker package you got also.. Thx

In most cases tweeter is not filtered by crossover. If funny things happens and you get no bass at all,try different wiring. But this is way to start. Speaker set is DD EC 6.5
